Beautiful sunset Rich. What software are you using for HDR images?

I've been playing with the trial version of Photomatix, and have also been using freeware called Luminance HDR.

Thanks buttons ... I'm still in awe of this camera for the past several months. I really enjoyed it in a different way during vacation. When I lug this 5DMk3 with grip and L lens during my sports shoots, it feels like a serious piece of equipment. When I had it with me on vacation, I took the grip off and left my zooms at home and left the 16-35mm II on it the entire time... WOW, fell in love with it again

Thanks again for commenting.

Thanks for commenting 68Olds

In the past, I used Photomatix and Picturenaut... the results were inconsistent plus I don't think I'm very experienced in HDR. This shot was composed in-camera. The HDR function in the 5DMk3 is not ur typical in-camera special effect. It actually is based on your settings, saves the exposure settings you place +/-1, +/-2,+/-3 or auto. It then combines it in camera into a jpeg. The three exposures are saved under your original file settings... mine is set for RAW. So if you do not like the results that the in-cam gave ya, you still have the original bracketed ones. The only PP I used in this one is Lightroom 4.1

I'm pretty impressed with the results but hey, not an HDR expert.

Additional Comment:

Here's my first attempt at HDR; The Kingston Penitentiary viewed from the back across farm land. I was at about a 6x optical zoom since it's about 1.5 Km away from the road where I took my picture. I used the trial version of Photomatix and played around with the settings until it looked kind of right. The camera is a FujiFilm FujiPix S1600. The bracketing on the camera can ony do 1/3, 2/3 and 1 so I used those with 3 manual exposures of 0 +3 and -3.

Its sad when you search the thread title exactly, Best Pictures, and its on the second or third page. Thats usually where it is when I go to post new pics.
