Anyone ever undervolt a 470 GTX?
I know the 470/480 had the tendancy to run really hot too, so i figure some people might of actually undervolted it to keep it under control. |

It's more common than you would believe. I'm sure you know the drill... Open furmark and every hour drop .0125v, and so on and so forth. If you're comfortable with "gimping" the card lock in the undervolt with NiBiTor.

this card idles at 56C, the current case its in has really poor airflow. i do plan to put it something nicer soon. Undervolt would be a double win in my case.
Additional Comment: Since i put the 470 in this system , the PSU fan has been kicking on a lot. I just plugged in a killawatt. gpu at stock voltage it was drawing 256watts running 3dmark06. undervolted from .962 to .887 and now its at 235watts. temps are down, but psu is still kinda loud. it was a coolermaster 460w. I am using a core i7 920 with 1000w psu now. Undervolted to .887 it seem to run stable but was showing artifacts on my favorite game. Now ive been running it at default voltage and its been running around 90c -- but at least my PSU isnt going to catch on fire...

I only have overvolted trying to get higher clocks, never under volted.
I'm ready to kick these 470s to the curb once GK110 comes out. Should out perform these two 470s in SLI. |
