Bad motherboard or at least one ram slot. Try one stick of ram in each slot, one at a time, and see if it doesn't boot in one of them. That will isolate the bad slot or slots. Personally, I couldn't live with that anyway, I'd just replace the board.

Yes the new chip could be the issue. I will swap that out. All 4 ports check out.

my 990FX Sabertooth took my 1090T to 4.8 ghz top boot, and my FX-6100 over 5.3 ghx benchable...both under liquid. there are better boards i am sure, and ore money to be spent, but i love this board and this bios.

\as a reference, my 1090 ran at 4.141 Ghz on 1.47V for about a year, between the Asus and a 790FX MSI.

Ok that was it. I suspected it but doubted it at the same time. So what would one have to do to hurt the IMC? OC it wrong.

Too much CPU/NB voltage, or it had a weak IMC to start with.

My 965 is at 4 gig @ 1.475v for more than 2 years now.

Wish you would have asked before you bought the 6 core.

Can you return it for your money back?

Hint: Most Phenom II Cpu's can run 4ghz usually daily. Some not that far and some will clock a little higher.

But there is no big gains from 4.0 to 4.1ghz for example, so you are doing well to be running speeds this fast on air imo.

With W7 you do not need to load any drivers for the CPU, only your motherboard. However for the m4a785td-m evo make sure you are using BIOS version 2006 or newer for 1090 support. Regardless it should not be running at 100% on all cores. Also it appears 4Gb of your memory is being used, and another 4Gb cached, leaving you with only 22meg free? Something is consuming an awful lot of memory for only having a browser window open.

I wonder have you tried a fresh OS install since replacing the chip? If you have a spare drive try that as a test. I don't recall any problems when I upgraded from 965 to 1090 however I was using an 800-series board at the time.

Yeah, my bios knows what it is and added all the new features. I just liked the 1090 because it ran cooler for me at 4.0. Also I could hit 4.5 with out signs of stability failing. The 980 only hit 4.0 and 3.9 safely. I think I just got a bad 980 batch. I may try to buy another and see if it runs a bit more stable. Then again, I may just scratch this system and go sandy bridge. not sure yet.

Still talking to the seller of the 1090, not sure he will let me return it or not.

That's an idea!! SB can't go wrong. There's no FSB clocking multi only so you'll always be stable!! Easy OC
