Dell Precision m6700 ordered. Any other owners?
Anyone else use one of these? I've had a clevo I7 laptop for a while and prefer coding in the living room to my office, despite the smaller screen estate. Work are glacial about workstation upgrades and don't feel I need anything special but they agreed I can purchase whatever I want as long as it can join the domain and follow the work security whilst there. Easy. Chose the Dell due to its docking station and general quality based on reviews. I7 3940xm, 32gb ram, raid 0 256gb ssd's and a quadro 3000. Yes, it's slightly overkill but I often do sneaky guearilla coding to sort stuff out so I need to compile and run / hide real quick sometimes. I'm not directly meant to code most of the time. I think it's probably sufficient to run VS and Blend ![]() yeah, cos I'm a little excited I wanted to open a thread. Anyone else with similar? |

congrats on your new mobile workstation! it's a beast of a machine.
we recently got a beast of a machine for work ~ dual xeon E5-2687w; 128GB RAM. it's going to be doing scientific work. sadly though, a k20 might give us better performance but the software isn't optimized for GPU's at the moment. |
