Please no bumping within 24 hours of the previous post. Use edit next time

Ebay for that is a good deal, just note the shipping. To give some magnitude of how much you can get it for:

RJ-45 crimper - $10
RJ-45 Modular Plugs - $0.25/ea (approx, comes in a bag of 100)
Punch-down tool (pending what block, a 66 or 110?) about $10
1000' spool of CAT5e - $50

TOTAL: $95 for a total "kit". BUT if you calculate shipping it can be in excess of over $120 on some of them - they are pros at the "raise the shipping" game cause the amount of merchandise illusions the fact its not worth much, so it raises the value of shipping.

Call your local computer store (not best buy, circuit city, etc). MAYBE Fry's if you know one close by. Get prices. CAT6 is not needed for atleast the next few years, CAT-5e can go 1GB speeds, if terminated properly.

Generally, you wont go WRONG with buying a kit on ebay, cause its a one-time investment and about worth it. But if you have any second thoughts call local.

I was just looking in the friday Fry's ad and they have 512mb of PC3200 Corsair ram on sale for $69 (after a $20 mail-in rebate), That's crazy! But I don't get paid until friday , I hope they still honor the ad.

EDIT: Fry's has an online store @ http://www.outpost.com but the deals aren't as good.

RJ-45 Crimp Tool $18.99

CAT-5e Cable $99 for 1000' , not sure if this is what your looking for.

Punch-down Tool $3.99.

I don't know if these prices are good. Hope this helps.

$99 for 1000' WAY TOO MUCH!

Crimp tool is an OK deal... could be found cheaper... but OK
Punch-Down - ok, but ware you gonna really use it? (yes if using keystone, 66block)

outpost.com can rot in hell - they scammed me on my hard drive rebate - a $60 hard drive quickly became $90 after 3 months (!!)

Try calling local stores - like open a yellow phone book. Pick a store that you might have heard of.

Sorry to hear that. I'm a regular customer at my local Fry's and the management team there is incredible, by far the best customer service in the area. I bought a P4 2.53 Ghz floor model PC a while ago, I got home and tried to fire it up and found out there was no memory inside. It was supposed to come with 512mb, I went back and they gave me my 512mb stick plus another matching 512mb stick (so 1 GB total) just for the inconvenience! They have always given me the benefit of the doubt.

Like all big-box stores, it varies with the location.

I like fry's though, they are still much better than BestBuy.
