We must get a handle on things

Guys, we have got to do something to get ourselves back on track. In the last few days we have lost two of our top folders and now our team captain. Despite people saying they will stay on no matter what, the team will not hold together if we do not come up with some kind of resolution to what has happened. When so many people begin to leave in protest over the actions of moderators then something is seriously wrong and it should be addressed. Sweeping this under the rug and pretending it's not happening is not going to solve a thing. It will simply feed the exodus that has already begun.


I will state for the record that I stand by Shroomer, j_rok and RealBeast. I understand they are upset and I think they have valid reasons for being so. However, after giving it serious thought I cannot agree with their decision to simply leave the team. In the interest of full disclosure I will say, as I've said to some in PMs, that the thought of leaving the team crossed my mind. When I came back Sunday night I was disheartened to learn what had transpired while I was away. On Monday I actually began to turn off some of my F@H instances. What changed my mind in the end though was that my actions would do absolutely nothing to resolve the situation and I would be leaving my team mates flapping in the wind. We shouldn't just take our balls and go home as it were. That has never fixed a thing.


We have a good thing going here guys, and it would be a real pity to see it fall apart because of an argument that got out of hand in the politics section. Everyone needs to step back for a minute and regain a measure of composure. You guys are not getting back at the moderators you are upset with by leaving the team. You are only hurting the rest of the team by doing this. I hope we can find an amicable resolution to this situation. I would hope that those who have left are willing to come back if the situation can be resolved. I see no reason whatsoever why this cannot happen.


I hate to sound clichéd people, but united we stand and divided we fall. Right now we are divided and this team will not hold together if long standing and respected members keep leaving.

We need to pull together and decide that, no matter what everyone else does, giving up is going to solve nothing. We need to vote on a new captain. We need to get through this quickly or all the new members will see this. What kind of team is it that just quits when things get tough?

Our team could go on without the forum, but we would lose the kind of close-knittedness that makes people want to join.

If he has a change of heart, I would be thrilled. However, as it stands, he has effectively resigned as captain. Giving up in defiance of a couple dumbasses (yeah, go ahead, ban me) is not what the team needs in a captain. We need someone who will stand by the team no matter what and be a leader through the good times and the bad.

Shroomer, if you're reading this, know that I still love ya, I just can't agree with what you're doing.

Hey guys, I am just coming over from reading/discussing all this over at ocforums, my home. Excuse me if I come across as preachy, but what everyone needs to remember is that no matter what happens, the Folding project is the one that gets hurt when people start turning off clients.

Being upset with management of a forum is OK. Everyone has their own opinions. I have read what transpired with j_rok, and for neutrality's sake, I am not going to comment. However, think of the reasons why we fold. I'm inserting a small snippett here from one of our folding newsletters as a reminder:

Hear their laughter and remember their warmth, then think of it crushed and destroyed. Like so many soldiers cut to pieces from nowhere on any battlefield, in any time. They has been mauled and destroyed just as they were, only internally. You may not have seen it before, but there is a chance you will. A person you care for this morning can be the people I’ve described above, this evening. If you have seen it and know it, remember them. Don’t forget my comrade, that those of us who have needlessly fallen to the ailments described above are no different than your or I. They were simply victims. They were stalked and brought down. Today you walk, but tomorrow you may crawl.

Now here is the meat of it my friend. I love those people. I care for them, as much as I can whether I know them or not. They are everything to me, in a different existence. Your mother could be my mother, your wife my wife, and your sister my own sister. See that those who rot and die are the same thing to their own families and yours is to you. And you will see that you love them too. Fight for your own AND them. These afflictions are TRUE evils that lurk this earth, striking anyone and everyone with no regard to who they are. This is why I fold comrade, for all these people whom my affection and involvement is not known but understood. I walk besides them in their darkness and pray for a torch or candle to light their way to health and happiness. I walk with them today, in the hopes that together I will find them and myself a dawn. And the dawn will rise, brother. It will come over the shadowed horizon with a shot of warmth and light. Shivering limbs will still and heavy hearts will be burned clean of this darkness that lurks at the corner of our vision, and in the recesses of our bodies.

I will be there brother; I hope to see you there as well.

Think about that for a minute before you shut those clients off. If you wish to make a statement to your teammates, the change the team # or something, don't just drop the work altogether.

That said, I've lurked for a while here before actually registering, and ya'll have some great forums and a great community, don't let one bad incedent ruin that. FOLD ON!!

I pretty much only post is the folding forum now anyways, and as long as we don't experience a modding problem in this part of the forum, I'll fold for 11314 until the internet gets turned off

If Shroomer has resigned as team captian, I (man, this feels sooo dorky) would like to nominate Hack99 as the new team captian. He's currently the #2 producer for the team and is the only non-mod besides quicksilver (who also said he was quitting) that has a sticky in the folding forum. He is always very helpful to people with questions and is also enthusiastic towards the cause.

The thing that bugs me is, Rabid did appologize to j_rok (via email). (Just to let the people know if they didn't keep up in the other threads.)

What do you do when you say something to someone in person that later you realize probably wasn't the best thing to do? You appologize to them. If they accept your appology, great, if they don't, that's their decision, but at least you tried to make amends.

However it seems to me the rest of the people which seem to have some opinion on the matter that was between just two people don't think that is good enough. It was just a few words between a couple people... sheesh.

If someone couldn't accept an appology from me, then I would probably just walk away and choose not to talk to them again. I'm not going to sit there and kiss their *** until they finally decide to change their mind, I have pride and morals too.

And this is the last I'm going to say on the matter. I'll keep this thread open only so long as it stays in a positive direction and sticks to the topic that horuscg started, to "get ourselves back on track"...

well, honestly, he (shroomer) put shatloads of money towards this... i know i havent contributed any money to him, and he was spending loads of money toward it right? let him go for a little, if he really loves the cause, he will be back sooner or later.
plus, now this gives the rest of us a reason to try harder
what happened happened. words were exchanged, people left, people apologized. whatever, i dont even care anymore. im gonna stop spending my time arguing, and spend it working on new folding rigs! muhaha. and i really need to make my WC setup work... anyone have a whitewater they want to sell? :P
