which moox build?

Roaringone mentioned these special firefox builds in another post that supposedly are faster and more stable than the stock build. What i want to know is which one to use and install issues.

the closest i could figure is that for my system (see below) i should use either...........

MozillaFirefox_20040709_0_9_2_RELEASE_P4_AXP.exe

or

MozillaFirefox_20040709_0_9_2_RELEASE_P4_A64_AFX.e xe

Is that about right, and if so which is best for my rig?

And on the install issue......shoulld i uninstall the previous version (9.1) first, and if so should i save any config files?

Asus P4C800
P4-3.0C
1 gig geil dual DDR
ATI 9800pro

well, from those names I would judge that the 1st one is optimized for p4's (yourrig) and the second one for p4's and Athlon 64's.
Try the 1st one I gues.

Thats what i figured, but i don't get why one would be for either and one just for P4. If the one that looks like it's for a P4 is the best choise for that CPU, why have another build that is for both that and AMD? Someones gotta know this.

"BRANCH_P4_A64_AFX" or "TRUNK_P4_A64_AFX" are primarily for Pentium 4, Athlon 64, and Athlon FX CPUs. These builds use compiler flags that optimize code for Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon CPUs and also incorporate specific SSE2 optimizations that are not recognized by earlier generation CPUs.

"BRANCH_P4_AXP" or "TRUNK_P4_AXP" are primarily for Pentium 4 and Athlon XP CPUs. They will also run well on newer Durons (1.7Ghz+) and Celerons (1.7Ghz+). These builds use compiler flags that optmize code for Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon CPUs and also incorporate specific SSE and MMX optimizations that are not not recognized by earlier generation CPUs.
Basically, the A64/AFX/P4 build has SSE2 optimizations that aren't recognized by AXPs. Get this one.

About upgrading, I would just backup your profile folder. Just copy Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Firefox\ in its entirety to a separate area, then install 0.9.2, run it once, then unzip and copy all the files from moox's build into the Program Files\Mozilla Firefox folder. That's how I do it, and it has worked flawlessly from 0.9 to 0.9.1 and to 0.9.2.

WTF?! It doesn't install........you just unzip it and it runs?! the only apps i usually see like this are small little utilities. anyway, it seemed slower so i just re-installed the normal FF.
