dual channel slow down!

I recently bought a new ecs mobo and oc'ed my p4 1.8 to 2.53 then started playing around with the dual channel mode, when I enabled it it actually slowed my system down

anyway I would really apreciate some input on this btw Im running one stick of pc2100 and one of pc2700 honestly I think this might have something to do with it please verify.

I had an ECS mobo not long back and it was very picky about RAM.
Occasionally I would have to boot the machine up with one piece in,
boot it down and then add the other piece.
So watch out for the mobo tripping you up.

matched pairs and speeds are better for dual channel operation,
you would be better off buying a pair imo from my experience with my ECS mobo.

Yea, it could only run "dual" at the speed of the slowest RAM.

fsb stock is 100 now its 141 not sure about the 1:1(what this means)
ram timing is 2.5 6 3 3 pc wont post if I change it.
both sticks are 256megs one is samsung pc2100 the other is pny pc2700 the funny thing is when I run this little benchmark program the cpu math integer is 170.6 @1.8ghz then oc"ed its 240.6 @2.53ghz but when I run dual channel and oc"ed it drops back down to 170.6

even when you decide to and get yourself nice and square with dual-channel you will find that the highest you'll be able to run is PC2100 @ 1:1 (133fsb) cause RAM will only run at the slowest chips speed. Hopefully they will work together nice nice since they are from 2 different manufacturers...download Memtest86 and let it run at least 3-4 times to make sure everything is peachy. if they are happy in dual-channel you could probably get a few more clocks out of the chips with a bit more vDIMM. let us know how it goes...

remember dual channel only works when you pair the memory in slots 1&3 and 2&4 respectively
