burning in my new cpu

I just had a quick question I just upgraded from a p4 1.8@2.53 to a 2.26@2.58 as you can see the 2.26 is a dissapointment. my question is has anybody actually been able to clock higher after burning in their new cpu?

unless you're having a heat issue, burning in won't get you any higher OC. Your CPU is at it's best the day you install it...

thanks for the reply, now I'm depressed I guess I underestimated my old 1.8 I was hoping to hit at least 2.7 oh well.
you know what sucks is it will run at 2.6 but if I start a game it will run a minute or two and then crash to the desktop but I dont get the blue screen or any lock ups.

Could be the board's limit as well. The overall FSB is similar in both clocks, and if the board supports a max of 533 mhz FSB CPU (133 mhz system bus), then @ 151 mhz, you could very well be maxing it out. Like it was said, more system specs would be helpful.

specs: p4 2.26 northwood mobo ecs 865pe-a rev 2.0 kingston value ram 3200 2 sticks 256megs ea. 1 stick pny 2700 256 megs.

yesterday I pulled the pny and bought another stick of kingston ram and I ran it in dual channel. I was able to increase the fsb to 170.
the problem is I can run folding@home and all other programs with no problems but if I try to play a game it will run for a few minutes and crash to desktop. as you probably know I cant adjust voltages with this board.
anyway I'm thinking since this ram wasnt bought in a dual channel kit its likely to be the problem......or maybe my power supply 400 watt rosewill.
btw there is a slight fluctuation on the 5volt rail

I would say it has nuthin to do with the ram or the cpu. Prolly jus nee dall the windows updates. I know I had the same problem until I got sp1. Also make sure you have all the latest drivers from the manufatcurer(not windows update drivers). I am pretty sure that will fix it.

Have you got the latest vid card drivers?
Are you trying to run FAH and other programs? cuz when I run fah I cant run halo for some reason. It just keeps crashing back to desktop.
