System #2: 2500-3500 Overclockers Gaming rig

FOr those of you with a bit more budget.....

Processor: AMD FX-53 OR 4000+ SLedgehamer
FX-53 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...103-459&depa=0 $727
Provides Exceptional Overclocking at significatnly less than the latest FX-55
4000+ http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...103-497&depa=0 $655
Essentially an FX-53 with Locked upper multipliers.
CPU Cooler: Thermalright XP-90 $40
FAN: Vantec 92mm TOrnado w/ Nexus 201 Fan Controller $45

Motherboard: DFI Ultra-SLI
http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProduc...136-151&depa=0 $239
Provides All the overclocking options any crazy overclocker needs. Exceptional stability for SLI, and Voltage options for Voltage hungry Ram.

RAM: Twinmos SP/400II Or OCZ VX
OCZ- http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...227-204&depa=0 $250
Twinmos- http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...218-062&depa=0 $140
The Twinmos ram uses the same UTT memory chips as the OCZ VX. This ram can acheive incredibly tight timings at very high speeds. Timings up to 265@ 2-2-2-x are common with enough voltage.

Hard Drive: Western Digital 74Gb Raptor SATA
10,000RPM, Incredibly Fast. Very Reliable.
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...144-160&depa=0 $178
OR
Maxtor DiamondMax10 Series
The 16 Meg caches gives this large capcity drive excellent performace for its capacity. Fast enough for a primary drive while having plenty of storage
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...144-359&depa=0 $188

Video Card-Single: X850XT
The X850 provides excellent overclocking and the latest GPU Engine from ATI
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...102-483&depa=0 ~$500
GPU Cooler: Zalman VF-700cu

Video Cards-SLI: Nvidia 6800GT
The GT Series provides excellent overclocking and performace for less than the Ultras.
eVGA http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...130-215&depa=0 $429 x2 = $858
GPU-Cooler: Looks like we may be stuck with Stock if used in SLI onthe DFI Board. Awaiting confirmation . Replace Stock Thermal Compound with Arctiv Silver-5

Power Supply: OCZ Powerstream 600
Lots of Juice, Dual 12V Rails, Adjustable. ROck Solid
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...104-153&depa=0 $205

Mouse: Logitech MX510 (MX518soon)
The New MX-518 should perofrm even better, but for now the 510 is an excelent high performace value.
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...104-151&depa=0 $40

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...179-014&depa=0

There was a lot of hype surrounding this monitor, and they are selling like hotcakes, so prices are jacked up everywhere. In a month or so, the price should be down to about $350-360.

Excellent! Thank you.

I have changed the 19" LCD in System #1.

Is there anything that would be better in the sub-$1000 system than this?

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...009-027&depa=1

I found the headphone info somewhat me

Thank you again,

All of these mobos are N4 Ultra or SLI & all are PCIe.

AMD does not support DDR2 at this time & there are no AMD DDR2 mobos.

On the first one, shipping can add:
DFI - $2
XP-90 - $8
Panaflo - $5
Memory - $4.65
Case - $16
HD - $2
Video - $5
BenQ - $15.66
DVD Burner - $4
Speakers - $17
Surge protector - $5
UPS - $10
Total = ~$94

...and that doesn't include tax! Just making a point. A $600 buget systems, easily becomes a $700 one when you don't include or mention shipping/taxes. So put the true cost when you're listing deals, guys.

Very true, but this is more about what to buy as opposed to where to buy it.

I'm not going to try to include shipping & taxes,
because there are just to many variables & I have the following in bold, both at the top & the bottom of my post.

DOnt you have 3-4 laying around?

Monitor: $99
Stick with CRT at this price point..... 19" CRTS are cheap and even the worst ones outperform cheap LCD's

If you are on a budget and can't afford a 6800GT and want something better than a 6600GT. Because there is a big price difference between a 6600GT and a 6800GT, than here is a alternative.
