A serious problem with RAID0+1
"I had a strip raid 0 array and a miror strip for it.. I came home, the miror strip drives were a total lost and the MBR's of the strip 0 where reset." He has an Abit kt7a mobo, and he's using the onboard RAID. He also says that the RAID1 was actually working, but suddenly he couldn't boot up the PC and all this drives just failed on him. He lost very important material here, so please urgent help is needed. |

STOP!
Send it for professional recovery of everything on the RAID 0 array, this will be expensive. Each of his RAID 1 drives should be fine unless he was running RAID 10 or 0+1 & he screwed up everything. More info would be good. |

What kind of more info do you need? Anyway, he sent an email to Abit themselves, and they replied with some sort of "it shouldn't happen and the MBRs should still be on the drive", but that's not really helping.
He had a RAID0, and he was working on a big project, so he wanted to protect the data, and got another 2 drives to backup the RAID0 drives. It was working until some weird day where he just couldn't boot up. EDIT : he gave the HDDs to someone who might know what to do, although when he told him about the situation he was like "WTF" because nothing made sense in all that. And I know we have expereienced RAID users here so I want their opinions if there's any hope or all is lost. Last edited by Maher : 04-28-2005 at 06:16 PM. |

Ofcourse!! Each RAID controller is different, so he needed the mobo. I hope nothing changes in the drives that can be irreverseable.
