Project *Mellow Yellow* w/ the lights off

This is going to be a quick project (I hope) and should be done no later then 2 weeks from now. I'm off from school, and I am only working one full time job,so this gives me plenty of time to play a little with my ideas.

This mod is not going to be hardcore or anything. Its just basically a sanding job,and paint job and a couple toggle switches here and there. I have already purchased the materials (plexi, lighting, switches, etc.)so its just a matter of getting down to it.

I decieded to go with yellow for the interior because, I like the color,I have a DFi board, and I don't see that many yellow cases. The outside I'm still debating on. I like the mirror finish idea, but I also like the brushed steel look.

Anyways I received the case on Thursday, and this is how far I am on the project. I will probably start cutting the side panel tommorrow, even though I still have no idea what I'm going to do. Here are a few pics. (crappy quality I know, taken on a mini dv cam)

Good start! The yellow should look sweet...

I have to agree with you, between brushed steel and mirror, it's a hard decision.

Looking forward to pics as they come...
BTW, gotta love the cat.

KK, got the side panel cut out,now its time to straighten out the edges with the dremel. Also forgot to paint the little indentions on the right side panel so I did that as well. Does anyone know were to buy the gaskets, that go on the side panel to hide cutting flaws?

Yeah its like school bus yello, but you really wont see much of the yellow after all is said and done. Just enough to contrast the pci & DIMM slots of the DFi board.(thats were the idea of doing it in yellow came from).More pics in a sec. I'm really cookin' on this project.

My camera blows, but the case is actually lookin' pretty good. I assembled the case just to snap a couple pics. I will rivet them back on Tuesday, cause I left my rivet gun at work.(working on gutters). Now its time to start thinking about the bezel. I have no idea how to get a brushed steel look on plastic??Anybody out there know??

Artistic flare..
btw you should paint all the sides and corners on the mobo tray they will probably stick out, no point painting the middle because mobo hides it but should probably paint sides like an inch all arround just to make sure!

Great suggestion! Just took it out and put a coat of paint around the edges. Thanks. This is the last update for the day,I'm pooped. This toggle switch will control any lights I decide to add later on in the project. I will probably buy two more.

Thanks again for the nice comments ya'all Cut out the right side panel for cooling the backside of the mobo. Plan to make it stand out a bit more using some LED's. Still wondering what to do on the front. If I paint it with a chrome,I think it will look crappy next to the brushed steel. I might just paint the front bezel yellow as well. Anyways heres some pics of the cutout motherboard tray.
