how to set it to run on logout...

well hi everyone.

At the moment I plan on occasionly folding on this PC. It's a 2.4 celeron with 768 RAM... yeah... it's a beast.

Anyway, I looked in the Folding@Home FAQ and it showed how to set it up to start the screensaver when you logout.

I set it up as it said but couldn't find a folder named winfah.scr. The FAQ seemed pretty vague on it and a search turned up nothing. I tried getting it to run winfah.exe instead but that didn't exactly work.

May be a bit of a noob question but I'm a bit stumped at the moment.

Also I've set F@H to run turn on the screensaver after 1 min and to only run when a screensaver is on in addition to what the FAQ tells you to do in regedit.

It's XP and with the latest graphical version if that's needed.

Also a small noob question. Is 500 frames pretty big ?

500 is ok. I have no clue why the screensaver wouldn't work but I run the console version and leave my PC on 24/7 anyway. And welcome to the team .
Meh!

You can also set it up to run when the machine is idle for X amount of minutes with 'Scheduled Tasks', just may have to close it when you return..

Well I'll just do that in the meantime.

Only problem is if one of the less computer orientated individuals decides to use the computer. Then starts whinging that it seems to be going slower.

Also at the moment the celeron seems to be struggling with it.

Admittedly I do need to do a more recent anti-virus run and it hasn't been defragged among some other things. There's also some annoying processes that keep running.

It's depressing how bad I've let it get. Well I guess I am a bit lazy.

But really even given that I thought it might be a little more capable.

Currently it's taking just over 30 min for 1 frame.

Are the celerons just pathetic when it comes to folding then ?

If I can be bothered getting the old pentium II a hard drive I might set that to run it more regularly. Shouldn't have any issues with viruses, spyware or unwanted processes as I'll do a clean install. But it'll probably be horrendously slow. Better than nothing I guess.
