Replacing ATI Radeon 9600xt

Greetings Folks

I am looking to build a new rig (Opteron 165, DFI (non-sli) and PC4000 mem).

This will be my first PCI-E board and so new waters for me. My latest graphics card is the ATI Radeon 9600XT but with that being AGP I need to find something that is PCI-E and comparable.

For instance I run dual heads off this card. I'm not a gamer so I don't need the latest and greatest $600 card

But I do alot of videography and graphics work, along with the rig I am looking to build I need something to keep up without being the bottleneck.

So can I get some suggestions and options please.

Well with the other parts around 600-700, I'd like to keep the vid card to $150 or less but it is more important that I can still get my dual head as well as something that will last me a year.

Well if you are not a gamer I would recomend the X1600XT or Pro model. The can be found with either dual DVI or VGA and DVI, they also support all the HD formats and come with the spliters. Great card for the value as well. Also I would like to recomend the 6800GS as it is close to that price range and slaughters the X1600 series with almost all of those options, great power to price ratio on these two cards. Many people here will testify to these statements also since you aparently do not want an entirely badass gaming rig, also If I may with an OPty 165 and the GS you still should be able to play all of the games for some time to come and they will play all current games at max at 1048x754 res. this is substantial enough to put you in the gaming and editing field. You will also be able to seemlessly transfer to DX10 with the PCI-ex16 interface as well when those cards come out.
