Capturing TV
I am trying to capture video from my TV while I play PS2. I am getting a Dazzle 90 and my PS2 hooks up to my TV with component video (3 for picture and 2 for sound). The Dazzle can capture with either S-Video or Composite (yellow picture cable). My TV does have an output for Composite, so all I would need to do is run a cable from my TV to teh Dazzle. Or I could use S-Video from my PS2, get a Y-adaptor and split one end to the Dazzle, and the other to my TV. My TV is a 27 inch Prima (cheapy).... I know there is a HUGE quality difference when I use my component cables vs composite cables, but would there be a huge difference between S-Video and Component on a crappy TV like that? And is it worth it to go through the trouble to find an S-Video Y adaptor just so I can capture with S-Video for good quality? Also, would a Y adaptor reduce the quality going to the TV and Dazzle? lol, that might sound confusing but I really dont know what to do. Thanks |

It depends really on how well your tv works, by that I mean, some cheaper tv's have these connections, but it's difficult sometimes to get them to work, s-video is very good, but you may have to run left and right audio cables, the blue green red rca connections are better than s-video, probably the best, with the exception of hd, you probably will also require audio cables for these also, thats if your tv supports it, it's definately worth using these cable set-ups, the picture is sharper, the colours are better and interference is reduced. But how good or well your tv will work depends entirely on reception, the reception is the key to good tv.
