8800gtx acting weird in system

Hey everyone
I have the 8800gtx voltmodded and overclocked to 710/1100 right now. My gripe is that my AMD X2 is only at 2.2ghz (ATM) and im ONLY pulling in 8200 in 3D2006? What gives? '03 im getting 37000....but i think its capable of more...what is wrong? Even in games its scoring lower than stock ones. Can it be that my cpu is at 2.2ghz thats causing such a drastic difference? Or perhaps the mobo is *** for it? I dont know...
Help?

-Chris

And yes i do realize its 6AM lol wow long night

I'd go with its the crappy overclock, 8800gtx are pushing the edge of CPU power.

Don't ask why unless you want to join them.
That AMD cpu is severely bottlenecking the 8800GTX performance. Why volt mod it when you can't even stretch it's legs at stock? For you to even scratch the surface of it's potential, you would need a Conroe clocked past 3ghz.

First, why did you volt mod that thing?

Second, why such a tiny overclock? Most of those chips will do 2.5Ghz on stock volts.

As far as the low score, did you change all your settings when BENCHING to performance and turn AA/AF off?

What did you get in 05? 03 is really useless now and really shows a CPU bottleneck as it is almost as cpu dependent as AQ3.

Tiny overclock because this motherboard sucks and i have no vcore options!! So im stuck at 1.2v to try and overclock the cpu...so useless. I figured that was why i was getting such low scores Might as well return it to stock (8800) as the cpu is murdering the performance. In games it seems alright when i crank up the detail...but i dont know. As for settings yes i put them all to performance when benchmarking. And its not a temperature issue as it runs 41 full load and cpu 30.

I'm surprised that you didin't get a better motherboard and stick with an 8800GTS. That would have been a much more wise investment and you would have had a greater impact on performance.

Defintely all in the CPU.

I CPU bottleneck in benches at times with the card at stock, and I'm running a 3.7GHz Conroe for Christ's sake. The 8800GTX's are total monsters.

I know
Although in FEAR when i run super high res/quality it seems to even out...
But i still need a new motherboard. Maybe ill just stick with this for now and wait for the 680A.

Very good choice... DFI's 680A board should be comming out pretty soon I think. But even if one from DFI doesn't com out soon enough, the chipset itself should be outthere not to long from now, and it's definitely worth getting.

don't worry dx10 will help relieve cpu bottleneck.

And yea, as for your prob, it's the cpu bottleneck.

06 needs an conroe or kentsfield to compliment the 8800's.

With my X68 @ 4.6 with 8800 gtx's in sli in 3D 06 I find cpu still not enough
power. When i put in the QX6700 @ 4.3 the difference is noticed with 06.

Nice clks - 710/1100...
I noticed with latest batch of 8800 gtx's regardless of maker are all hitting
690/1100 on stock vgpu 1.26/1.27 or close to this margin.

My early release 8800 gtx's by XFX were maxing around 665 without vmods.
The ones im using now for my benchies are retail ver 1.2's XFX which seem
to have more headroom @ stock vgpu & cooler.

Wait till mid-late Jan 07 and get an QX6600, will cost about 550 usd
and your bottleneck will be gone...

That is true...
Oh by the way dont run your memory over 2.0v...seemed to not like it on my board. I was running at 2.1 and began to give me problems. Running 1100 still at 2.0v

As for the cpu... 2.4ghz so far at 1.2v

Yeah, ntune will actually let me set my GPU core at over 730, but it's not stable due to heat. these cards really OC well, it's a shame that there's no reason at all to do it

Oh, and dynasty, your hardware still makes me hate you.

Oh by the way dont run your memory over 2.0v
and to think 2.35 vddr was suitable for 2500mhz on the ram clks,
what was i thinking....
Yeah ram on these cards are sensitive to higher vddr, doesn't respond well
as you mentioned past 2.0V that I learned with one card already....
Good thing it was an early release 8800 gtx that went back, hopefully
they give me an nice newer batch 8800 gtx, either way it will be my spare
as both my latest xfx ver 1.2's gtx's are doing very well clk wise.
I might do 5K vr for ram this time though just to be safe...

here to test...

You should instead tell us about the scores your getting? I presume your benching isn't going to plan......almost a month and no scores

Don't tell us about how well the cards scale or the memory responds to voltage......SHOW us how they scale
