On a personal note, I am a bit disappointed in the 80mm fan..

Hmmm..., I think the graphics card industry needs an efficiency revolution. I don't think I could afford a KW PSU running at max all the time.

Yes it is MASSIVE... Nice to see they fit it into a normal form factor. I wonder if it will run hot with all that power flowing through it.

I think it's normal looking, which is nice... Not everyone wants LED lights and modular connections and all the bells in whistles. Just want a strong reliable PSU.

new psu's now use only as much electricity as it needs.. say u have 2 8800's in sli and a couple hard drives and it used 670 watts.. the psu would only give you 670 watts, not 1kw

That's only output power of the PSU.

You're being billed on what your PSU draws off the AC line, not what it puts out on the DC side of it. So it totally depends on how effecient your PSU is.

Holy shnikies! How much would that effect the electric bill? I'd be scared that the "man" would think I was growing pot or somthing in the basement.

Sigh... it would be roughly the same bill as if you were running a 500W PSU if both PSU's had the same effeciency and the same load on them.

Eh, the original Powerstream's look way better...what's with it not having a toggle switch, if this is the final design?

Still, large PSU from OCZ = large downstairs.

some PSU don't have the switch for some reason, most notably Sparkle brand PSU's don't have the switch.

That feels less safe to me...like when I shut down the computer and flip the switch, push the power button a few times to make sure all of the electricity is out of the system. Not having that step would make me feel weird...

That's where the savings kick in . Performance at the cost of common sense.

More importantly, who needs 1000W? My Wattage display currently shows 62W. Max of 109W in games.
