What Should I do? 2.2 ghz, 2.4 or 2.6 on a bad budget

Im kinda broke atm no job, but i need a cpu upgrade for my dell. I can get a 2.2 shipped for 48 bucks, 2.4 will be 72 bucks and 2.6 will be 100 bucks. I will be buying it with my state income tax money. So what Im asking is will there be a big enough difference between the cpus to justify the price?

Jiga what?
What kind of processor?
Intel?
AMD?
On a 50 dollar budget I would hit an opteron 146-150, and OC it all the way to 2.8GhZ...
For 100 dollars you can get a nice dual core 170 Opteron and OC it past 3GhZ.
Uless ofcoarse you have an even older soket...
Then you want to go for a 3000++ with good stepping...
Give your system specs please...

Find out what socket type you have and then look on Newgg for some processers. You will probably be able to find a better deal.

For example if you have a socket 478:
Intel P4 3.0GHZ - $79.99 Free shipping

Intel P4 2.8GHZ - $71.99 Free shipping

Intel P4 2.4GHZ - $63.00 Free shipping

Well, if you can't afford a new platform AND cannot OC, get the 2.6ghz. Every mhz count on Intel systems IMO.

Does your board support HT (just curious) ?

Don't ask why unless you want to join them.
Don't spend money on upgrades if you're broke and have no money coming in(other than a one time tax check). If the tax check is huge then sure, but if it ain't tht big, rethink your priorities.
2.2ghz btw, $50 just for an extra 400hertz. it won't have that big of a performance diference.
