newegg + paypal, funds from checking account?

Ok, so I've never really bought anything from Newegg first time buyer from them. I found a few parts to rebuild a new computer but I ran into a snag buying the items. The PayPal account is registered to both checking account and credit card to cover funding for purchases. But when checking out when I attempted to purchased my first item, I only had the option to pay with credit card no direct checking withdrawal. I ended up charging the item but I would have swore you would be able to use your checking account for funds pretty much the main reason of being able to use Paypal. The account is new with Newegg but have been using PayPal for years any insight from people that buy regularly from Newegg? I tried looking this up but really didn't get a strait answer but I found out TigerDirect has the option but would rather stick with Newegg.

There should be a small link below the payment option (credit card) that says "change payment options" or something like that. The default payment option will always come up as the payment option unless you manually change it. It would make more sense if they used a drop down menu to allow you to change the payment options instead of having to click a link to make the changes.

Well, I just checked and I thought I saw a way to make the changes via a link, but after accidentally getting past that point I can't seem to get back to it again. I'll try it again after clearing the cookies.

That looks to be how you change the back up money source. The back up source is for when you use a checking/savings account to make a purchase and there are not enough funds to cover the purchase. When there are not enough funds in the primary the back up (usually a credit card) is used instead.

I ran into this same issue yesterday when I placed an order at NewEgg and attempted to pay with PayPal.

It defaulted to my PayPal balance, which was not enough to cover the total, and was going to charge the remaining amount to my CC. Like 4-n-zics said I simply clicked on "change payment options" or somesuch and selected to use my checking account to cover the difference.

All my other PayPal transactions have always used my checking to pick up any amount my PayPal balance didn't cover, so this was a first for me. I'm not sure if it had anything to do with my CC info stored on PayPal being expired or if they are defaulting to CC charges now. Always before PayPal would "throw a fit" if you wanted to charge something instead of drawing from checking, "are you sure?" followed by "are you really sure?" etc.

Weird I tired to change the payment method a few times and the only option was to pay by charging the item to credit card, thought it was because I just registered on Newegg and possibly missed an email or something. Snagging a new more items tonight hopefully will have better luck then yesterday, if not I guess I'll shoot a call off to their support and find out whats wrong.
