SuperPi Will Not Work

Forgive me if this in the wrong section. seems like it wouldnt be, but figured it was more specialized than a general question.

basically, i just built a computer and downloaded several versions of superpi, and NONE work. every single one crashes. the computer is completely stock, and is running vista business.

to expand, i am not getting checksum errors, or any errors. as i try to do calculations, it just freezes and random points through the process. It might do one or two runs without freezing the program, but it always fails.

Is superpi not compatible with vista, or something? i have downloaded it several times, several versions, have unpacked several times, etc. it doesnt crash the computer, or do anything like that, the program itself just freezes. its the only issue i am running into (other than fighting with vista )

Prime95 passes at any hour mark (i would hope so, being stock), and temps seem decent. i just cant figure this out

i7 920
ex58-ud3r
mushkin ddr3-1600
PCP&C 750w
OCZ vertex 60gb
WD caviar black 640gb

Please help!! i love superpi and want to get it working on this PC!

thanks in advance

Additional Comment:

So, i tried superpi 1.1 and it seemed to work, however, it just gives times in seconds as the smallest measurement. which is honestly just completely useless for my purposes

i tried hyperpi with the vista "workarounds" but it just went fubar, that was deleted immediately.

are all the people running superpi using XP? i googled, and this is certainly not an isolated incident. i assume with how much superpi is thrown around that someone has it worked out on vista.

so, any tips?

edit: it seems i received an infraction for posting this in another section? would really like to know if that was the reason. if i dont know what i received it for, how will i know? also, if i could delete this one, i would have would like to know in a PM, or response here. doesnt really matter, just so i know it wasnt something else that i am equally unaware of

I would first check to make sure your memory timings are set correctly.

As for the infractions, its best to keep that to PM's with one of the moderators. They are able to tell you why something happened.

When using vista, when you go to calculate, just drag the screen to the top right of the screen. ( Strange i know), but it works, then you can run it as many times as you would like to.

You can leave the main screen in the center, but where it says start calculation, drag to the top right of the screen and hit start.
