Want a SSD with a tight budget.

Looking for an SSD large enough to carry Windows7 and say 15GB of programs.
Budget is pretty d**** tight at $170aud. Can any SSD be recommended with this budget?

I'd say you'll be very lucky to find and SSD for that budget (even the low end 64GB Kingstons are a little more)

looks like you can get one of those for $190 on eBay. I was fortunate enough to find a 2nd-hand intel x-25 for 230 shipped internationally - you might find a good deal that way.

Say I could get some one to ship this to me..
Good deal or no?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227393
The $20 rebate should take care of most of the shipping fees.. so if it is a good SSD, it would fit the bill nicely.

Additional Comment:

BTW it will be purely for benching.. nothing else. I can live with my mechanical drive for everyday use.

Valid point. But really 3 or 4? I am thinking years before they come down enough for me to afford that. An SSD would help bridge the gap between me and the top spots in benching. But if I can't get a good enough SSD with my current budget then I will wait.

Additional Comment:

What if I got another WD Caviar Black 640GB to put 2 of them in raid0, and waited for SSD prices to come down?
Would that help performance much?

well it would help no doubt... but it wont be at the same level as an ssd be ....... is it a must right now since you said it would be used for benching only.... or can you not wait a bit more and get at least 2 or 4 ssd in 6 months to 1 year and own in the hdd benchy thread + general gaming etc...

No..its not really a need right now. I think I will grab another 640GB black for raid0. Then in 6 months to a year I should have $300-$450 to throw down on a SSD setup.
Sounds like a good plan to me.
Thanks for the help Fr0sty. Appreciate it.

A slimmed Windows 7 only takes up 8GB so if you really want to you could nab a 30GB Vertex and still have 20GB left for a few of your favorite games/programs

i think we have it for 119.99 after rebate on BF. Friday through Sun - would be a nice snag for ya jjjc.

If you can get me the cash quick enough - before sunday - i can get one for you - its 149.99 (before 30$ MIR) + tax (6.75%) = 160.12

Like AT said, get the 30 GB Vertex and put your OS, games and most used progs. on it and install everything else (including page file) on your black. With 4 gigs of ram you probably won't use the pagefile much anyway so it shouldn't slow you down.
