Switched from Tornado 11 to SLK-947 disappointment :(

Hi i just switched my t11 for a slk-947.
With the t11 my barton 2500+ (no oc yet) was about 40C idle and 42 load.
The SLK 947 with a 80mm fan and Arctic silver 5 gets me only 5 C lower temps! I m at 35C now :/ my room isnt hot either , i d say about 23C and i have 5 case fans (3 out 2 in)
Also is it right, as stated in the slk manual, that the fan should be attached reversed? Meaning it blows ON the cpu instead of FROM the cpu?
I m not sure if i did something wrong but 35C without any oc is kinda weird :/

Thanks in advance!

the AS5 takes about 200 hours to settle and reduce the temps even more... plus the temp decrease will not be all that much at idle.. the 947 has more of an effect on temps when running at load...

^^^^Yes. You will see more improvement under load. Also, a 5C drop in temps is not really that pitiful. Maybe if switching from a stock HS, but (even though I'm not a fan of the volcano series) a change from the Volcano 11 to the SLK-947U shouldn't be a 10C difference or anything like that. A 92mm fan might help drop the temps a little more.

I've found that when I had my fan blowing toward the cpu it is 1-2c higher than sucking out. Also AS5 will take a while to break in. It is best to get heavy loads in then after having your computer off for a while then boot you should see a lower temp.

hm its really weird..
in the morning time when i had my windows widely open and it was really cold in here my cpu temps were at constant 28C. Now after having run some time with CLOSED windows (= its kinda warm in here) they rose up to 35 again...hell the ambient temp surely DO have alot of impact eh?

firaX,
Did you run your finger across the base of the HS and feel any grooves from machining? Or was it real smooth? If there are grooves, you may benefit from 2-5 degrees improvement by lapping it.
