I knew that a mod could not be that tuff for the tec hsf since they make amd versions. Let us know how it does once you get it running

killa thanks for the image hosting it kicks @$$

This is a test fit of the tec and a copper shim was used that i neglected to photo i will condensation proof the final setup

here is the modded base you can see the new holes i drilled and how i filed down a clearance on one side for the socket

here is the top where you can sorta see the new holes and the pins that needed to be broken off for bolt clearance

here is it mounted in the socket from the top

here is the socket with the studs bolted on

here is a profile shot where you see where that recess comes into play (it appears to be touching the socket but its not you can see light between the copper and the plastic)

Here is the backside of the socket with the studs bolted on

Here is the whole mobo for a size comparison

Are you going to cut customer neoprene pieces or order some from a mcw462-ht set?

im not sure yet do you think the pieces from the amd version would fit? ill prob order some just b/c they are real cheap and if it doesnt look like thye will work right ill just make my own or modify them

with this setup do i need to put neoprene or silicone on the back of the mobo and do i need to insulate the socket pins or the top of the cpu? and how do i insulate the top of the cpu if im using a shim?

I would insulate the back of the mobo as well and use dielectric grease in the socket, etc. I am not too sure what the am version looks like at the base of the cold plate, etc. I would try and dl some swiftech documentation and pics to see what the amd version looks like. The cold plate looks the same as the amd462-uht which would make sense since the socket is the same (and to keep their production costs lower). I will see what I can dig up.

Check out that link for the gaskets that I was talking about. They are universally compatible across their amd tec's so it should work. All you need then is the neoprene to go on the back of the motherboard.

nice i can just use an old mousepad and some silicone for the back but what about the top of the cpu? i read to use dow conformal coatign but i wont be able to use a shim then hrm i had an idea i could use vasaline ontop the cpu that is non conductive and would squeeze out from under the shim if i got some under it i might try that

I guess either that or the dielectric grease on the wafer with the exception of the core where the thermal compound goes.

that Freaken rocks!

I want to do that to the caps on my kt4v-l just for the hell of it. Looks cool but watch out for disturbance from the long wires, though it shouldn't be a problem.

Rock n roll! Any pics of the finished mod? I was hoping to see those gaskets helped do the trick.

Wow I like how you showed those caps who's boss. Good modding all around and what's 70*F on the Celsius scale? Like 20*C? That's pretty darn good. How far is that below ambient?
