Here is a nice card with a none reference board and dual fan like the Lightning has. Mr. Scott makes a great point, lightnings are pointed at the sub ambient crowd and other than running very quit offers very little more to the gamers than other vendors.
This card runs at 680 core speeds out of the box and is whisper quite, just did a build for a friend using this card at stock clocks and 2600K at a conservative 4.3 it does a P9487 in 11 Crushed Battlefield on Ultra Settings and gives you 4 monitor support and stereoscopic 3D .......... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814162109 Check out the holes in the PCB under the power train FTW Galaxy has set the bar with this card IMO |

Just purchased a card myself. I was looking at the 680 but due to basically no availability I went with the 670 SC 4gb. So far it has been working great other than some minor driver issues which I expect will be sorted out in the next driver. I had no problem finding the 670 in stock at newegg and it runs great.
I'm currently running BF3 at 5760x1080 with Ultra settings and getting 30-40fps. Now I just need to add another card so I can break 60fps .

Bingo. There are a bunch of settings you can mess with that will sacrifice visual quality for performance. Back in the early days of 3Dmark NVidia and ATI actually used to specifically tune the drivers for benchmarks by making ridiculous sacrifices in visual quality when they detected that a bench was being run. Since then they got called out and stopped doing that by default, but it's still possible to change some settings to eek out a bit more performance.

Might want to try doing a clean driver install. That can sometimes help a lot with nVidia cards.

I think he runs a minimal setup with only the essential windows services and programs running.

![]() WD is a pretty good vid card bencher. Without knowing what you're doing, you'll be hard pressed to match his score. I would imagine if he fully tweaked, those scores would be a couple thousand higher. Last edited by Mr.Scott : 06-19-2012 at 04:27 PM. |
