when just switching it out you don't really have to do anything but of the drivers don't work right just reinstall them should fix it

Hey Blackops.. glad to see you finally received the replacement card. I disable windows update driver in settings. Uninstall through catalyst, shutdown..switch cards.. install new driver. If cards are different or you have problems then use driver sweep after rebooting from unistall.

Haven't tested it yet for some reason i haven't been able to sleep at night and have been sleeping all day. Went to bed at 5:30am Wednesday morning woke up at 2pm that day, then went to bed at 4:30am this morning woke up at 12pm did my assignment for this class, went back to sleep till 2pm. Then i got my last final tomorrow and i'll be carrying everything home so i should be able to test it then.

Additional Comment:

I'm telling you they're shipping these things with the wrong Bios this one is also at 1000/1425...Time to ask for my money back.

Resetting sets it to 1000/1425 jesus..

So far passing test but i don't really care. Ran valley and 3dmark 69C has been the top end so far. This is on catalyst 13.4

Well that's not what it's supposed to be running. It's supposed to be running 925/1375. The last two cards did the same thing and wouldn't stabilize. Sure i can technically adjust it to 925/1375 if this one fails but when pressing reset to default it shouldn't reset to 1000/1425. Catalyst Info is also showing clocks at default are 1000/1425. That's not the model number i ordered, i ordered and have registered the stock 7970 DD edition.

Voltage adjustment is locked, GPU-z is reporting .850v but it's in it's idle mode with clocks at 300/150

Additional Comment:

Artifacting in Crysis 3....getting artifacts all over the desktop screen now.

Additional Comment:

Should i ask for a refund or demand a refund?

Additional Comment:

That was a serious question BTW.

That really bites man.. it's sad too what's become of this company these last few years.

I would request a refund or at least a replacement with an unlocked reference model for your troubles. I know they have offered this to some customers before.

What is the voltage under load? Run Valley and monitor with gpu-z...under VDDC drop down menu select show highest reading. Should be 1.088-1.1v under load.

My Diamonds already back in

If they offered their reference version i'd be stoked assuming it's reference PCB because then i would have my second 7970. There is nothing wrong with this one. Hell that's TSM's highest clocking 7970 out of his 3 diamonds and his XFX his XFX is gold.

I don't want the DD or Core edition..

Additional Comment:

Sent them a email asking for a reference version

Lol made me chuckle a little. If they don't offer me a reference i gotta ask for my money back. Five months and three horrible cards is just BS IMO.

You think they'd even have any reference versions left? They've changed revisions so many times i doubt they have them.

Agreed.

10char

Additional Comment:

This is the response i got after asking if i could get a reference.

"Ill need an RMA number fast to change your replacement."

I haven't sent the third one back yet though? I guess he's going to generate an RMA for this third replacement and give me a reference?

Your right i should've asked for a refund. I figured if i could get a reference it wouldn't be as troublesome as asking for a refund.

Scrolling back to the BBB link.
