First time here, and reason why I'm here

Hello everybody, I heard this is the best forum for discussing PC problems and dilemmas, so I figured I have some (who doesn't?), and I registered. Going to have a lot of questions, like software/hardware issues and what are the most cheap and necessary upgrades for my PC.

My current configuration:
CPU: Intel Pentium Dual-core E5400 2.70GHz
Motherboard: Gigabyte MB GA-G31M-ES2L; LGA775, Intel G31
RAM: Kingston 2048MB 800MHz DDR2 PC6400
GPU: Asus VGA 4670 512 MB DDR3; EAH4670/DI/512MD3/A ATI Radeon
HDD: Seagate HDD 500GB; 16MB SATA2

Oh, my budget is none (it's what my parents give me, so I need to know how much to ask for). My computer is used for games, and programs like CATIA and AutoCAD. I play games at 1280x1024. I would like to have something that could run modern games on medium quality (and badly optimized ones on low, FPS is what matters mostly).

Upgrade the video card. That will get you into gaming with better frame rates and a higher resolution.

Before you upgrade, you gotta be sure your case and power supply can support a larger Video card.

Get a Q9550 and a 670 (short version.) You'll be able to play most things maxed out at 1920X1080. It'll cost about $500 to upgrade like that if you go with a used cpu. If you need a new psu too add $120 or less to that.

Additional Comment:

Oh wait, Sarajevo, it'll cost 2.4 million American to upgrade that way with a used cpu... lol

Hello Sarajlio, sta ima ? Wellcome to forum

I'm from Belgrade but in consideration to others here we'l use English.Used to live in Sarajevo but haven't been there since 1973. I think that in Bosnia you have cheapest computer parts in Balkans and for that matter in Europe.
As for your questions I think that you have couple of bottlenecks there. One is you need at least 2 more GB s of memory and better GPU, something in the order of a nV 560 or AMD 6XXX. Of course with matching PSU ( do not skimp here), a Chieftec or a TT would be best bet as they are most popular makes around here, (don't even consider any "Kung-Foo"s) If you can throw few more Convertible Marks at just a bit better processor you'd have a machine that would play all newest games at reasonable settings.By locally as RMA is a ***** from abroad, and only in sealed boxes and you should be fine.

Used quad core Q6600 or better, newer video card and a power supply to match.

RAM won't effect fps as much as load times, but it would be nice to have 4 or 8 GB from the 2 your using.

What website will you be shopping on if any?

i had upgraded from my old e5200 on pretty much the same motherboard to an i7 860 + 4gb ram and amd 5870 and i just sold that lot for £315 on ebay (the i7 + 1156 mobo and 5870). So id think you could grab a pretty decent set up. Might be best to tell your parents what you plan to do and ask for a budget for which they would allow. From there we can help point you in the right direction

Thanks everyone, got myself some useful answers here .One more question: I heard something about 32bit windows systems not being able to read more than 2GB of RAM (even for Win7), so is that true?
I wouldn't like to switch to 64bit system due to compatibility issues with older games I still love to play.

Hvala beograđane, najkorisniji odgovor dobih znači s ove strane bare

PS:901-Memphis I wont be shopping over websites.
Right now what I'm thinking is to add 2GB of RAM, new graphic card (ATI 6xxx some), and overclocking my processor. If overclocking my E5400 isn't a bad idea, I'd like you to guide me to the to the thread where I can ask anything about overclocking it (got pretty busy here on my first thread).

Almost. 32 bit OS's will see between 3.25 and 3.50GB of ram. 4 gig on a 32 bit OS is the max you need.
