As long as you don't have problems with newegg then I haven't seen another online retailer that does better. However, obviously given this current issue if you ran into that then it would seem like nearly any other option would win.

I recently bought my motherboard from them (g1.sniper 3) and thankfully did not have any problems with it. If you are having problems with Newegg my next suggestion would be Amazon, Tigerdirect wasn't bad when I used them either, I hear microcenter is decent but most of their deals are for local stores only so if you don't have one nearby they really aren't that great of an option.

Microcenter is my one stop shop these days... The deals they kick in stores are generally pretty crazy (2500k for $169 AND you get $50 off of your mobo? That's cheaper than most people sell their stuff USED!), and although I end up paying tax it still ends up far cheaper.

Which is why i don't shop there. Their prices are usually higher than newegg's. If i had one near me i'd shop there very often. They're still a good place, but if i compare both online then newegg wins for me. I only shop at tigerdirect for barebons and such. Newegg's barebones are practically not even a barebone.

I have no idea. Only pc hardware I bought in the last 5 years was 1 psu and 1 gfx card from newegg. but I doubt it, because tigerdirect used to ship to canada and newegg didn't. That was before newegg started selling kitchen and auto stuff.

CompUSA is owned by Tiger Direct. Newegg and Tiger are different.

This has personally happened to me. They are nothing less than common criminals in my mind,

It was when I returned an Asus WS Revolution P67 board back in the pre B3
I never understood as it was on Asus's dime. But one thing is for sure the pins were perfect and the original socket protector was inserted properly.

Fortunately after spending countless hours on the phone working my way through the food chain I was able to convince them that it was shipped in new condition.

If they were bent it was simply an RMA stooge who had the protector slip on them removing it to check the pins, I simply asked them to prove it was not their staff, they do not take kindly to criticism and ushered me off the phone with RMA approved as fast as they could.

I am used to dealing with these types of issues as i am and estimator purchasing agent for a mechanical company. Nobody wants to stand behind their products nowadays and Insurance companies are the worst as it is simply procedure to say no and deal with the challenges as they come, if it saves them one claim it is worth the effort from their perspective.

IOt is a shame Newegg has taken this approach. I still buy their and just know now to CYA on every purchase and return

Cant you simply take pictures of it before you send it out, with the serial # included, etc, and be protected against this?

Probably a prudent thing to do with any online retailer, imo.

Yes, but unless you plan ahead to do this then it's already too late. The problem is that Newegg is/was generally considered a reputable retailer so people didn't worry about stuff like this happening because newegg would always take care of their customers. Sounds like this has changed.

I would suspect if this policy is changing that it is most likely in direct response to people taking advantage of newegg's previously good customer service. I have known several people who will take advantage of any company, and think they are totally within their rights. When you get too many of these types of people then you have to respond in some way. Unfortunately it ultimately ends up hurting the good customers as well.

So if you are one of those people who take blatant advantage of companies knowing full well you damaged the component yourself, or whatever the scenario is, then shame on you. It's people like that who are making retailers regret treating their customers well as they take advantage of them over and over again. Even on these boards we see people fairly regularly who know they damaged components by doing stupid things while overclocking, they simply return the items to the vendor and hope they don't notice, even though they know **** well it was their fault.

It's a shame they have come down to this. All of my previous customer support with them has been excellent (the last representative even flirted with me haha). It seems like people are catching on, so I can't imagine they will continue these charades too much longer.

I purchased my most recent motherboard through amazon warehouse deals, and I've had 0 problems with it.

I have seen a few posts on here where we talked someone through troubleshooting a problem, ended up returning there motherboard and this happened.

Me personaly, I bought a $700 EVGA 8800 Ultra NEW from New egg, on my account, still have the receipt to prove it, and when the thing crapped out EVGA denied the claim, saying I was not the original owner and that the card had already been registered by someone else.

I have been very caustious about any dealing with NewEgg or EVGA since.

yea sort of like trying to make a claim on insurance, you are covered well and good as long as you never need to make a claim

Bas tards I tell you

but what can you do as even of you go elsewhere and pay more if you try to return something to the alternative vendor it is propbably the same BS you have to put up with

Here is the Empire
  • Newegg.com — principal site, for United States customers
  • Newegg.ca — for Canadian customers
  • NeweggBusiness.com — for corporations, resellers, schools and non-profit organizations (tax ID required)[17]
  • Newegg.com.cn — for Chinese customers
  • ChiefValue.com — a sister website of Newegg.com which contains mainly computer products
  • ABS.com — System builder owned by Newegg
  • Rosewill.com — Newegg product brand

just a shame that newegg is getting too big to care. Remember when they only sold computer stuff. now look at what they sell.
