Iphone 5c lock passcode after erase...

I have an IPhone 5c locked with a passcode after being fully erased.

Before erasing the phone was removed from my daughters ITunes, appleID, and my Verizon account.

After doing all of that the phone was erased and reset to factory.

After restarting the phone was requesting a passcode.

The passcode that was on it before had already been removed. The old passcode now no longer works. The phone iss not assigned to any of my families accounts but it has a passcode...

ITunes let me do a factory reset, but still asks for a passcode.

There is no backup, restore point, or find my iPhone for it.

How do I clear this passcode that was never assigned?

Any ideas? Again ITunes won't communicate with it until I enter a passcode that I don't have and never assigned to it.

What do I do here?

Have you tried any of these? Is it assigned to an icloud you have access to?

As I stated it is not assigned to anything it has assigned itself a passcode after being erased. Either it is a common problem or a lot of people with stolen iphone5s are trying to clean them for sale. I solved the problem, I smashed it to ****.

I absolutely hate apple, every day I spend with an iPhone is increasing the likelihood I will give up on the innernetz.

I was going to suggest putting it into DFU mode and doing a restore from there.

It sounds like it restored from a backup and thats why it had a passcode.

Your solution works too though.

The wife has an iPhone and I cringe every time she says she has a problem with it. I share your immense hatred.
