Question about adding a 4th monitor.

I am currently running triples on a GTX 1070 card for Gaming. I want to add another monitor separate from the triples just for general purpose, everyday use. I do have a 770 card laying around unused.

My questions are: Should I install the 770 and use that card for the single 4th monitor?

Can I just plug the fourth one too the 1070 and still be able to use it separately for surfing the net while the other three are used for gaming at the same time?

I'm not sure if I am explaining it correctly.

If your PC can take the 770, then go ahead and use it. You can (or at least should) be able to plug the 4th into a 1070 and use it separately from the 3 configured as surround.

Note that not all game handle alt-tabbing gracefully.

Most platforms have on-board graphics nowadays. That could be an alternative instead of the power-hungry 770.

I was running 4 screens on my GTX 970, you should be able to run 4 on that 1070 without an issue. I was also running 3 via nVidia surround and my 4th was top middle. Windows saw all 4 displays as 2. 3 were 1 and the 4th was the second.
