No worries , the bump made me do a revision on what I am trying to sort out and you learn't something so it benefited us both

Opener of the Olympics was quite something wasn't it????

Back to topic with questions as I start to dry assemble my build. Slight changes to internal hardware and drives from the original post. Gear is:

Swiftech MCR220 Rev 2 (all in one mcp35x pump ,rad,res) 2 x AP-15 fans
Swiftech MCR 220 Quiet Power rad/res unit w 2 x Cougar 120 Fans
Apogee HD cpu block
Lamptron Fan Controller FC5V2
3/8" Primochill Tubing
Swiftech 2 x 45 degree 3/8" x 5/8" swivel Lok-Seal adapters
Swiftech 2 x 90 degree 3/8" x 5/8" swivel Lok-Seal elbow adapters
Swiftech 4 x 3/8" x 5/8" Compression fittings
2 x 140mm Cougar Turbine Hyper Spin bearing F & R intake/exhaust 1000rpm
2 x Antec TrueQuiet Pro 120 Side Panel 600-1200rpm
Coolermaster 690 Advanced II
XFX 850 Watt PSU
Gigabyte P67A-UD7-B3
HD 6990
i7 2700k
180 GB RevoDrive
2 x Vertex 2 120 SSD or just 1 x 180 GB Vertex 2 will decide
2TB WD Green
Card Reader
LG BD Writer 6x

I've decided to go with Primochill primoflex 3/8" ID and Swiftech fittings. Plan to use the 45 degree fittings on bottom mounted rad, the 90's to the upper mounted rad, I want a tidy loop!

Question , my Apogee HD cpu block has 1/2" barbs installed already , is it possible to get 3/8" hose on a 1/2" barb or is it a bad idea even if clamped? Does one want to stay away from mixing 1/2" tubing with 3/8" in a loop allowing me to use the cpu block barbs & 2 DD 1/2" barbs I bought for the gpu?

Is it better to replace the barbs on the cpu & gpu block w the same Swiftech 45/90 3/8" x5/8" Lok-Seal adapters & Compression fittings keeping everything is 3/8". A little pricey but I guess no other option other than barbing , and I find I prefer compression fittings even though more costly but then I own em and am good forever basically, will take em to the grave , lol

Planning to run all 8 fans off the Lamptron unit which I see as being a none issue. What i am wondering if whether my psu is enough, it seems to be right there.

Possible, but difficult. You would need to put the hose in very hot water and stretch it over the barbs like I do with my 7/16" ID. Only thing is you have only 6/16" of tubing. Cutting it off will be fun too.

Some do it and like the snug fit. But IMO, you would be happier to forget the 1/2" barbs. That means get the Swiftech compressions. Or if you are running low on funds, use 3/8" barbs with clamps until you can the compressions.

It's fine to mix the 3/8" ID tubing and 1/2" tubing if you have the fittings. Think of every piece of tubing as having two fitting attachments. That's all you need to worry about. One piece could be 3/8" between compressons and the next 1/2" between barbs. So you can use your 1/2" barbs. But it will be easier if you get a small amount of 1/2" or 7/16" tubing to use over the 1/2" barbs. The 3/8" will be a challenge but easier to get on than off.

Yeah, I am slowly replacing my barbs with compressions because they are way easier for me to take the tubing on & off. Never new I had so many barbs, LOL.

850W is what I have so seems like plenty for a CPU and VGA card. But check out the PSU calculator and see how what you get. You want plenty of power to OC the CPU. And then make sure you have enough for your VGA package. They usually have the VGA card requirements at the websites. You are doing great. Keep up the good work.

I have run into a little stumbling block. Mounting of the MCR220 Rev 2 pump/rad combo in the case, I think I will be forced to mount this rad externally via MCB-120 radbox , cheapest option, or modify mine with a dremel so I can mount the unit at the top which I planned, will decide this am.

Decided to go with external MCB 120 Radbox or buy another case , an Azza 9000 as it has mucho room, we will see......

Mounting a rad externally works well for me with the metal Koolance mounting bracket but many are happy with the plastic (probably tough nylon) from Swiftech. Others take an old 120mm fan, gut the electronics, and use the 120 mm frame as the bracket. Let us know if we can help.

I axed the Radbox option and opted to get a new case, since I have gone this far. Struggled between Azza Genesis 9000 and NZXT Switch 810. Both great , after watching Tom from overclockers.net thorough review, I went for the switch 810. It is a pretty killer case, external mounted rad is not what I want

Congrats on the case. Recently two EOCF members, Krystm and NilsJohan, built custom-water in the NZXT 810 and seemed pleased.

I will check builds and comments, also will look to see if there is any feedback on the Azza Genesis 9000 on the forums as the RATX feature appealed to me in addition to a few other things. However appearance wise it I prefer the Switch..

Hi Cisco, I see you're building in the Switch 810. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to help. I did go a slightly different route than you though, using a 3x140 mm radiator.
