Z-680s and "real" receiver

Is there any reason why you can't connect the z-680 satellite speakers to a surround sound receiver, now I realize that you'd have to get a new sub and obviously a receiver, but why not?

Any real receiver would have a subwoofer preout, so most likely you could make it work with not much trouble. Im sure the Z-680 amps are fine though, so the reason for doing this is beyond me.

You could connect these speakers to any amp. But I'd have to say that they can't extend very low, as they are tiny satellites. Probably rolling off at about 175Hz, so that is something that your subwoofer would have to handle, and the fact that bass is localizable down to around 100Hz would mean that you'd have from 100HZ to 175Hz of sound coming from your sub that you'd be able to hear.

What might be of better interest is that you could use other speakers connected to the 680's. So you could upgrade the satellites to a better bookshelf speaker and really pump up the performance of the 680's.
