They definitely look like a good drive, but with all SSDs I would first wait on some customer reviews on reliability after a couple of months before deciding. Marvell is the way to go imo.

Shouldn't be too far away, might be a tad expensive for the first few months, usually a good idea to wait, it is a little faster than the current M4. I would think Crucial will be releasing a new series soon with the same controller.

To be honest, I was disappointed with the 9187 controller, I expected better performance figures, even though they are better than the previous controller, the difference isn't that great, I was expecting to see both read and write figures in the 500's, the write figures still in the middle 400's, the drives too new and pre-release benchmarks are not always reliable.

The Corsair Neutron' GTX is only a month away from release, maybe two, if it's performance you want, it's got better figures than the Sandforce controlled drives, the pre-release drive did have a similar problem to the Vertex 4, it loses performance as the drive becomes full, firmware as fixed the Vertex 4, so the Neutron will get sorted eventually. This drive as a LAMD controller, which is new to the client market.

The Plextor M5 Pro will no doubt be a excellent drive, but I wouldn't pay too much at this stage over the price of the previous Plextors with the older controller.
