That new Brave browser

Hi all. I was looking at the Brave browser, and I was wondering if anyone here is ever going to use it. Created by one of the original guys at firefox. I'm going to give it a try. Anyone else going to?

I guess it's co founded by the ex ceo of Mozilla and the other guy worked on Firefox.Built in ad blocker but with a system to make payments instead of ads? Choice which ones to block etc..

I've been using it for several months. I love the built-in pocket, lastpass, 1password & dashlane support. So far the security updates are pretty regular. If you do try it enable the built-in plugin you might need and go to shields and setup your adblock preferences first.

Yeah it looks like you'll somehow get paid for the ads that you do click on. And it will block ads that aren't relevant to your interests. Pretty cool actually. I run adblock, but if they want to come along and be reasonable about ads like that, I'll gladly participate.

The only problem I ever had with ads, was how intrusive and invasive they were. Disrespecting you by being completely in your face. So now they don't get through to me at all. But if a platform like this will trim them down to a level of decency, then I wouldn't have a problem with seeing ads and wouldn't bother blocking them.

BTW Brave has a feature called Brave payments where you can say pay them a certain amount each month and it will divide that $ among the sites you visit regularly. Its an interesting concept.

Yeah I hope it catches on. I've been trying out the browser. Reminds me a lot of Opera for some reason.
