Xfx 7950 - $300 Ar

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150588

Approximately $300 after the rebate and 10% off code.

Can't say this is the best cooling 7950 out there, but its now approaching it's correct price point.

Really have to wonder when the 7870 and 7850 will have their drops.

Thinking hard about this one....consider going water on this and just throw the trash cooler away.

Fox - mate - do you think this would be a good candidate for the Antec Khuler 620 mod?

Additional Comment:

And Amazon have just matched it at $320 - with the rebate you're looking at $300.

Good news for those of us that like/prefer Amazon.

That would be a cheap GPU setup, and you wouldn't have to mess with your current loop.

Well I was going to go with the Nvidia's - once they were in stock AND came down a bit price wise.

BUT

The res I'm running I've heard the ATi's have more ram, so they're better for that (apparently) and that these 7950's can be overclocked relatively easily well beyond a stock 7970....

Plus the fact I got it for about $100 less than a 670 sealed the deal.

I can stomach a $300 video card....but when they're asking mid 400's for the mid level stuff...I just have to say enough is enough.

Additional Comment:

It's just like Andy Carrol - cost a whole lot of money - but we still feel ripped off. lol (Yes I'm a Red's fan too mate).

LMAO, however hes started to come good, so could become good value for money, where as the card is only going to come down

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/550?vs=598

some of those are interesting, some games the 7950 edges it, but others its getting blown away, even at massive resolutions, tbh, you wouldnt see the difference anyway, just nice to be nvidia again after X1900XTX > 4850 > 5870, amd served me well and i was gonna stretch to a 7970 + 3750K combo, but the 670 + 3770k is much better for a little less cash

As a side note, the reference cooler on a 670 is horrendous, really thinking about putting an accelro twin turbo II on it, read temps dropping from 80C to 46C at load with fans at only 40% = barely hearable

Guess we'll see how the new coach works out.....when I heard there were rumors of Benitez coming back I feared the worst....may as well get Houllier then if they were going for previous success...lol

The 7950 - to me at least - becomes a good card only when it's overclocked as when it's stock, it gets significantly beaten by the 670 - but price wise it's a good 25% less, so at stock to stock it was losing 10-15% - but overclock it to a 7970, or more, and we're almost on even.

I guess i"ll have to give it a go and see how it works for me - worst case I can just sell it for near what I paid and move on to a 670.

Additional Comment:

I'd have to say I'd have rather they got Drogba and saved the extra 20 mil they could have saved in that dumping of Torres...lol
