Bought My First Ipod
Got a Ipod Classic 160GB (coming tomorrow) to put in my glovebox, and controll from my HU. Never used any Apple products, or Itunes before. Can the Ipod play back FLAC files? For downloaded music that has messed up info (title, date, artist, etc) will it auto find the info and album art, or do I / can I do it my self? |

No FLAC, but you can use ALAC. Somewhat of a PITA when your whole collection is in FLAC.
And no, as far as I know you need to do it yourself. |

Tuneup will do the info grabbing. Costs money though.

I would use something like Winamp if at all possible. iTunes is, has and likely always will be absolutely terrible. Also you can set winamp to automagically transcode any files (like FLAC files) to something that the iPod can play.

Format Factory is good for file conversion, too.

I use Media Monkey super awesome software on the free side and if you pay the premium version it has volume leveling and other features.

Not sure if it supports the 160GB Classic iPod but Rockbox can playback flac on a iPod without needing to convert anything.
