sli gtx 570 or one 670

i am looking to upgrade in the coming months and am wondering what would be better, adding a second 570 to my current setup or selling my 570 and getting a 670?

i have found benchmarks comparing the two cards directly but no 570s in sli.

any insight/suggestions.

Well...

Most people tend to prefer a single card solution. However, the SLI 570's look like they will perform slightly better. But keep in mind this will also generate more heat and use more power.

And you can always save up and snag a second one later on, and have the latest tech in SLi ^^

i went from two 570's to a single 670. posted benchmarks from both setups a little while back (linked below) i then bought a second 670 because i was sad that i went backwards in performance.

all cards are EVGA.

benchmark: 3dmark11 P test. i couldn't find the two 570's in my futuremark profile but i found the other two so you know this is legit. (i might not have logged in for the 570sli one, they changed from ORB to some new thing and i couldn't get logged in)

two 570's: P10615
one 670 4gb sc: P8781
two 670 4gb sc sli: P14365(and this was with the cpu down 200mhz if i remember right, so it would've been closer to 15k had i used the same clock speed)

I have two of the EVGA 670 SC 4gb cards in SLI and haven't had any issues specific to SLI. Setup was relatively easy and seems to be working fine on the latest drivers.

I haven't had a single problem. i mostly play skyrim and bf3 at the moment.

i literally just popped the case open, put in the second card, put the sli bridge on, then rebooted. i just reinstalled the drivers (straight over the existing ones, no driver cleaner or anything) and everything works brilliantly.

What power supplies you guys using? I know the 670 uses a lot less power then the 570 but the recommend psu for the 670 is still 500w. Does that mean I would need a 1000w psu to sli?

No, it doesn't mean you'd need a 1k psu. 500 watts is cutting it close, for single 570 imo. But it all depends on what else you are running in your rig. See my sig for what I am running. I run a folding client on both cpu and gpu, and I pull about 340 watts from the wall. You could get by a 500 watt psu,but it should be a quality psu, like Corsair, Antec, etc. Post your system specs, so we can help.

I was just curious because maybe in a year or two i may want to SLI and i just wanted to know what type of PSU is needed for something like that. I am running with an Antec 620 PSU and a GTX 670. The GTX 670 has a better design and only requires a 500w PSU minimum.

My rig:

PSU: Antec HCG-620M 620W
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
Mobo: MSI 970A-G46
Video: EVGA GeForce GTX 670 915MHZ
Ram: G.force 2x4gig
