Are you upgrading to ZEN?

So how many of you people are waiting it out for ZEN. I have no doubt you all are anticipating the release as I am.

If you are not familiar with the soon to be released chip, here's a link to AMD.

I'm excited. 8 cores and 16 threads sound like fun

I'll wait to see its gaming performance once we get to retail reviews and how it overclocks. I am surprised how low clocked they are, however.

I will have one, but not for a few months after release. I'll wait for the board bugs to be shook out a little.

I've been in my current rig a couple of years and I'm about to retire so maybe? Price/Performance matters most to me at this point it has to be a long lasting high performing reasonably priced machine like my current rig.

I don't mean to sound like an a** so please don't take it that way. But my rig in my sig also cost just barely 2K and it's got a new intel 6700k and a 1080. What did you spend the same on an AMD setup and a 1070?

I've been waiting to build a Zen based system. Probably do it in the Fall after giving them a little shake out time. Hopefully they'll drop a few new video cards too.

Link is borked!

And so far it looks like AMD isn't going fullret4rd when it comes to CPU numbering scheme. (Like those APU chips that seemingly makes no sense whatsoever).

Altho if they are have their multis unlocked, I wonder why the X and Pro variants. Higher base and turbo speeds? Most likely the same kind of jump as between a i5-6400, 6500 and 6500K, GHz wise.

Different cache amounts I'm guessing.

I'm looking to upgrade (currently have a 4690k and gtx970), but not in a rush. I'll wait until bugs, drivers and such are all worked out, and see how the pricing is and how they compare to blue before i decide

What resolution do you game at? Just a GPU upgrade will be a huge improvement. A better core, yes, but us 970 guys are really held back by the limited 3.5GB or whatever it is VRAM.

Gaming on a 1440p 144hz monitor, I have two 1080p monitors on the sides of it as well.

Fortunately I haven't been playing many demanding games lately and its been doing just fine for now, just got the itch to upgrade because it's been awhile lol

More than likely Shrimp. To me and what I do the cores are more important than the clock speed and benchmarks as I run a lot of software simultaneously. None of my i7s or my FX8350 will be able to compete with that capability if its even remotely close to the benchmarks I've seen lately. This makes me very excited to see the product. I may still be going green team on the GPU though, this isn't set in stone yet as for me it will be more about linux support for my software than total performance in games. Cant wait for this new build.

Sweet. I love it when there is competition, it's better for all of us.

I'm pretty happy AMD went with SMT. It really will help people with multi tasking big time. With a performance increase per core as well, these new chips will be pretty nice all around. I have no doubt you'll be happy.
