8 GB VS 16 GB - Windows 7 64 bit

Have 8 GB of this in system in sig, wondering if i should upgrade to 16 GB

Any ill effects on AMD setups using 4 sticks that i am not aware of?

I mostly play games like newer MMOs.

If I were you, I'd take a look at my memory usage over a period of a week or so, and see if you are using anywhere near the 8GB you have now. That's more than enough for most people.

Many people are running more memory than they'll ever use simply because it is so cheap these days. I ran into a great sale a few months ago and bought 16GB for $74.99. I'm using 3 sticks now, on a tri-channel memory X58 chipset board, and saving the 4th stick for an IB-E build. However, I don't actually use/need anywhere near that much memory.

You may find yourself in the same position of just grabbing it while it's dirt cheap.

I was wondering if with 16 GB i could disable almost all of the pagefile except whats necessary so it doesn't use any hard drive for that purpose, or maybe someone has input on doing that?

I haven't used the pagefile since I upgraded to 6GB of RAM long ago. Unless you use RAM intensive applications (not games), you don't need the pagefile with 8GB.
