790fx/945be ram recommendations?

I've been scouring the interwebs looking for some sort of info, and i'm still not finding anything concrete on what memory to get in an 8gb kit. I'm not running 4 sticks, and that's what a lot of the info i've been seeing recommends. I dont mind stepping down to 1333 if i can get an appreciable latency decrease in return (i doubt it, i'm already at cas 7 1t at 1600) but i just dont want to buy ram and have it not work again. I bought a corsair vengence 8gb kit and it didnt seem to be stable no matter what speed/voltage/timings it was at.

Any advice is welcome. I was thinking of just replacing the board/cpu to solve this problem, but i'm not really running out of cpu yet, just ram in some cases.

You're in a tough spot. CAS 7 or lower @ 1600 is tough to get to with 8 gig on an AMD rig. Best advice:
