firstly the specs amd p2 955 @ 3.8 asus m479xtd evo board ddr3 1600 c9 ati 7950 i've looked around the web to see what i could find on this only because ive lent my 600w psu to a friend and as i'm using a delled otplex back up computer i'm getting tired of using the intel g35 igp (great for system shock 2 though hehe).. so anyway i havent had much luck. so i call up my brother and asked him very nicely if i could go through his vast collection of old tech.. which is killer because i love all the old stuff ![]() it wasnt a problem so i went round and i came across a voodoo 3 3000 pci ( my first card ever funnerley enough ) so the questions: is there any drivers for windows7? will it even work on the pci bus on the evo board? as in the speed e.g (66mhz - 100mhz) -might be confusing myself here. would be fun to overclock it if i got it working ![]() would be able to display 1080 desktop? the heatsink seems glued on so if i wanna overclock it'll have to be just fans to keep it cool.. cheers guys

1. I dont think that Voodoo3 is going to work in Windows 7. It was already a PITA to get working correctly in XP x86 (if I remember we needed custom drivers). Not sure if anybody bothered to write Vista/7, let alone x64 drivers for it.
2. If I remember PCI always works, worked and will work at 33MHz. PCI-E is 100MHz. AGP was 66MHz if I remember. 3. I used to display 1600x1200 on my AGP model, can't remember what was its max resolution, but I dont think it can handle widescreen/1080P. Maybe as a custom resolution... I have two of these babies in AGP form somewhere around. Awesome cards

IT won't do 1080P and it only has 16MB of video memory, let alone even begin to work in Windows 7.

lol really...
i mean i'll get the 600w psu back for my 7950 at some point.. but i have unreal and ut on the system.. and the delled 755 is a little bit.... well... yeah.. the evo board doesn't have onboard graphics so im stuck with pci for now ... i have a p4 1.8 ddr 400 delled board somewhere with agp... managed to get a geforce 3 and 4ti when i got the voodoo just for kicks ![]() Additional Comment: IT won't do 1080P and it only has 16MB of video memory i thought 1920 - 1080 would only take 8 to 12 mb to display.. i still have the drivers on the cd for it ... could i tell them to run in 98... or even get the xp driver and run it with compatability.... Worth a try, but I really don't think you will be able to install anything for it in W7. The automatic/default generic display driver might install, but it won't run anything.

the only other ones were the trident 2mb and 4mb .. he had matrox g400.g450 but i think thats agp.. it was the best of the bunch.......ha! just having a thought of running a p2 955 @4.0 with a voodoo card. ![]() it would be sweet to have a bash... The Voodoo3 will run on WinXP x86, you might have to search Google for drivers, and don't expect stellar performance out of it...

So will it play Crysis? Wait, I mean Wolfenstein 3D?
This is why I keep a Nvidia 9400 GT PCI card in my closet. You never know what might happen next. |
