Please let me know. I have often just set certain processes to a single core affinity just for this reason (SSMS, Vs2010, so on).

Be nice to not have to do that

Been a while but I tried it. It may be a placebo affect but games are not micro stuttering as much. Overall the pc feels more responsive when multiple programs are open too.

gonna need to check this on my wifes rig. Still just upset by how freaking slow Bulldozer is. Saw a few good articles a while back. First was the surprising sell out of FX systems and the losers of the deal being AMDs own last gen chip being phased out. The second was how far off AMD was in there own estimation of how many transistors are on there chip (and the correlation between how many transisitors they thought they had, and the perfromance hit it took below estimation.)

A lot of people feel that way, myself included. I haven't seen anything decent from AMD in the high end spectrum since my well my avatar

I love the middle end from them though. The HP with an A8 Quad lasts way longer than my i5 laptop and has far less issues with heat and HD content.

I've always believed this was more of a restriction for diagnosing a Windows issue. Does it set the same registry keys as in Cecil's OP

yea it is sort like setting the affinity for a specific bench like AM but 24/7 for everything would be win for a grinder

So I tried this out...

Major performance issues with my mouse, really lagging and found javascript websites such as jsfiddle stopped working properly in IE9.

Reversed the regedit changes and now all is well.

Very odd and can't see how it could have been related but there you have it.
