2 = 5 ... can't do greater than 24 cores

I still think folding is a good thing, but man, do they annoy me sometimes. I was wondering what was going on with two of my servers and luckily Sneevly took a look at his.

It seems we can't do greater than 24 cores with only 1 slot any more. That's ok ... I guess, but their change prevented any existing systems from getting work units which effectively disable them from folding. You have to wonder how many systems are idle right now.

The fix? Add slots so that you have no more than 24 in each. So, instead of 48 and 64, I have the following.

24
24

and

24
24
16

Hard to say if this produces more PPD or not, but surely more than the zero they've done for a couple of weeks.

Really? What the hell is the point? Unless they reached a point of diminishing returns but I don't see how. Glad I'm going with GPUs now.

Hay Jim,

I'm folding on my workstation with windows 10, The folding client seems to have a 32 core limit per slot.
Up until recently I wasn't able to get any WU when I had 32 cores assigned to a single slot, but I threw the bigadv flag in and I have been receiving 32 core Wu's for a few days.
I have 88 cores to work with here and it is kind of annoying that I cant benefit from the quick return bonus more by assigning all cores to one WU.

Regards Andy

I can't find the old post on the folding forums but one of the admins said some thing along the lines of "It's hard to make a WU that can work on 1-32 cores. 1-24 is as far is we can stretch it". I did hear of some people getting work on their 32 core slots but it's inconsistent. Mine didn't work for over a year and a half set on 48.

Glad you got your stuff working Jim.

Maybe they fixed it. I was already running bigadv.
