X58-UD5 or Rampage III Extreme
I have X58-UD5 and Rampage III Extreme. But Rampage III Extreme has some problems on it and I sent it to technical service. They will charge me 110$ if I accept. But X58-UD5 is working now. I will use it with Intel 990X. Should I pay 110$ and use Rampage III Extreme or should I use X58-UD5? I will OC it to 4.5 GHZ. Also I will use OCZ GOLD 1600 CL8 with it and Nvidia 690. |

Get the R3E back and use it as a conversation piece on the coffee table -- $110, are they nuts? The UD5 will do just fine.

Keep the 990x on the UD5 and don't pay the $110 for the R3E. You're getting the same OC anyway so why not save some money.

you will be fine with the UD5 ............. the M3E will only out run it when sub ambient and with low multi chips as 233 seems to be the wall with out mods on the UD5

One of X58-UD5 user told that: "I really didnt like my old UD5. Vdroop was intense. It had a bit of a finicky bios.. I hate those boot loops :/"
Additional Comment: What do you think about it? Last edited by agulerer : 07-07-2012 at 08:13 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

While I think the UD5 and the X58-Extreme from Gigabyte are capable boards for X58. I think the two boards that really separated themselves were the Classy and the R3E
