Wake up my machine when "sleeping" and windows 7 and network activity

i've recently upgraded me machine (specs below) to Windows 7 and would like to have it wake from sleeping when another machine on the network tries to access one of the shared HDs on it.

it used to do this fine but it seems to have stopped and wondering if there's a setting in the bios or W7 itself i need to change..

thoughts?

I dont really have thoughts, but i did encounter this myself. I had problems waking from sleep, period, with windows 7. My fix was to just turn sleep off

didnt work for me, but hey, you never know! literally no amount of tinkering could get it to wake from sleep properly. After a windows update, there was significant improvement, but still issues. i suspect it is an OS problem that will get ironed out. that PC is already in my customers hands though, so no more messing around with it anyway

Well, like i said, i did indeed set it that way, but still no luck. Oh well... It wasnt needed for that build anyway, but it is good to know that it was a fluke and not a widespread error.

Not true you could always try flying a boat to the moon

Additional Comment:

My apologies...3 days and 4 hours sleep can do that

your motherboard has to have the capability (in other words, a bios setting to enable), if it is not there, i dont know of a way to have the OS do it, possibly under advanced power settings...
