First DirectCompute Benchmark Released

A forum member by the name of Pat has recently released a new benchmark tool for DirectCompute. This tool allows you to benchmark DirectX 11 latest general-purpose computing feature by calculating tons of FFT-like data and some memory transfers. DirectCompute is an application programming interface (API) that takes advantage of the massively parallel processing power of a modern graphics processing unit (GPU) to accelerate PC application performance. Be advised that DirectX 11 and the latest display drivers are required to run this benchmark.

I got M9942/M4908

Then I decided to turn off folding...

then i got m15439/m4931

It would have been "cooler" if the benchmark would display something but w/e it seems to work fine.

I think it's intended as a GPGPU-type benchmark like SuperPi.

This benchmarks looks like it isn't coded correctly for ATi hardware. From XS quoting from readme:

Quote:
Sample results:

GeForce 9800GT ECO OC (740/1800/1010) : M15670/S3600
GeForce 9800GT ECO OC (600/1500/900) : M13195/S3220
ATI Radeon HD5850 (900/1200) : M11799/S11841
ATI Radeon HD5870 (850/1200) : -/S10961

S-single threaded result
M-default dx11 device settings
How can a 9800gt score higher than a 5870?

You'd just be watching your GPU do a bunch of Fourier transforms

That stuff is boring enough to do by hand.

Probably same reason why 9800gt beats 5870 at folding

Only at one F@H client from what I can see. M@H is coded well for ATi hardware and is an example of what it can do if a program is written for it. Programmers are just being lazy or payed off by Nvidia

Though this benchmark is in its infancy so I'll wait and see if it will change.
