Yea it blows that they are so high ... Just bought the little dog just to see for my self

100 bucks aftre rebate at MC

I think in Five Years Time mechanical drives will be a museum peice and SSD capacities will be reaching 1TB and of corse for this all to take place they have to be able to compete with those drives on a price basis as well

time will tell

by MC you mean microcenter? i used to work at the one down the street from me lol. i go there to "touch" and play with all the shiny toys, then go buy everything on newegg to avoid the sales tax lol.

but yea, it sucks the way technology evolves so fast lol. i'm gonna wait till ssd's are a hair more "mainstream" before I make the switch, especially since they're expensive right now.

though i've considered a cheap one for my laptop though... i'm sure a super cheap low end ssd is still a hundred times better than my crappy laptop 5400 rpm hdd's

what size did you get witch?

Hey WD looks cool! Run PCMark 05 and see if you can hit 20k with the i7! Managed to get 20k myself with a OCZ Vertex 120GB...

Hey just thought I'd check in on my batch buddy and see how the chip is doing...

I just got done with my build last night and have had a chance to play with it today. VID appeared to be around 1.25...vcore was running 1.24 at stock clocks. Got it to 4ghz and have been in prime for the past 2 hours with 1.288 vcore. Decided on the rapmage II and couldn't be happier. It's so easy to overclock it's almost boring. Highest I've gotten so far was a bench stable 4.42ghz @ 1.4v. just guessed at the vcore and didn't confirm that's the lowest I could go.

Is that with or with out HT ???

1.4 may be a little high for HT off

I am having great success with it. I have hit the board limitations of 4662 Mhz.

Can't seem to get past 222....... From what I am told by people who have this board is that 222 is max with out PCIe mod....

Rumor has it the new Gigabyte boards will allow for higher PICe clocks allowing the board to surpass this limitation..... time will tell.
But I will probably just live with it as I can not afford a new board at this time. New vid cards and Intel chip on the horizon prior to a board.

see how this beast does with six cores.... Then I will make a determination if a new board will be needed ..... Here is a screen of an 06 run with a total POS card as I am in the middle of a 4670 contest on another site ... but you can see the Vcore I am using for 4.4. I also attached a 4.6 of a SPI 32M run

Good luck man

Yeah I've had HT enabled the whole time. Prime bombed on me last night after about 3 hours at the 1.288 vcore and 4ghz. Upped it a bit and and rerunning prime to find my stable 24/7 OC, then I'll move on to tackle a stable 4.4+ OC

My problem at this point are temps. I'm ok right now in the low 70's but when I get up there, I start getting to 80 and over and I'm just not comfortable with that.

I'll probably be switching to watercooling soon and see if I can return this Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 back to MC.

Thats hilarious....
I was looking at gunslinger's unit, and was going to get it since I could have picked it up without shipping, but I finally decided to go with ruffus's because of his custom case...
Sdumper makes good stuff for sure.

Hey Guys it is time for a new hot rod..... SUB ZERO Style

Thanks to Rick, OC and DiMeLo for helping to make this possible ....

Specs.

i920 DO
EVGA 758 X58-Tri/SLI
6GB Gskill PI Blacks
30 GB OCZ Vertex SSD
74 GB WD Raptor
500 GB Seagate
500 GB WD Black
Diamond 5850 (future CF) and if they are hot rods may go Tri fire although this board is limited to 2 x16 lanes wonder where they came up with the name
PCP&C 750 Quad
TT650 Power Pack
Hot Rod SS unit
Misc. Fans

This build will be more of a Rack than your typical case build, but am hoping to incorperate some of a standard cases strengths into it.
This strength is obviously to have the ability to controll the eviroment that the mother board and video cards are in.
This in my eyes it a true weakness of a standard rack. I will attempt and I stress atempt to create a tri level possibly quad level rack
with removable sided mother board level ..... I know I know I have not figured it out yet myself...... But I will invent something .....LOL
Stay tuned final drawings should be prepared by next weekend ....
