Thats the vid I was talking about. The 680s arent loaded.

In the rig with the 7970s, dont know. I would guess xfire works windowed, probably an older driver that didnt.

Ill have mine together next week. Swiftech thinks my pump makes more noise then it should, so they are sending me an RMA.

**** idling all that was producing that much heat? ouch.

If they were running Heaven on extreme i'm convinced it was on both GPUs. My 7970 can't achieve near those marks even at 1600x900.

The 680s were idle, while the CPU was stressed the same as the other rigs they tested. Only difference was having the cards in the loop adding their idle heat.

Is it possible that Cecil is talking about the fourth (?) computer with the SLI 680's...(the one on the end of the table)...while Blackops 2 is talking about the final test (fifth computer?) at the end of the video where they had the 140.2 added to the H220 loop with the x-fire 7970's?

BTW, Cecil, thanks for the comments. I did not know those gtx 680's were idle, just didn't hear Linus or Gabe say there were loaded. Cecil, you may want to post pics in the build log. I think there are folks interested. Back to you guys...just trying to help along a good thread.

They show the chart of the Computer with the 680s in it and it says 3770k + 680s 80C. Then the last rig they have CFX 7970s running heaven at 57C or lower i think. According to some only one GPU is at load though because they say CFX only works in fullscreen, i have no idea whether it does or not.

Additional Comment:

Any updates Cecil? Curious how this pump handles the expansion.

Just got the replacement kit today. Im going to test the one I had vs the new one to see if there is a variance between samples, or if my pump hindered it at all. Then doing the expansion tonight.

Also, I was able to raise my 3570K to 4.7Ghz with 1.35V and its stable with temps in the high 80s during Prime. I could probably get away with a voltage drop, and after all this testing is done, going to repaste the die again.

With the H220.

One thing Ive now noticed with the Helix fans, is that when they are in a vertical position, they rub. When horizontal or flat, they are ok, but when standing up or at any other angle, you can hear something grinding. Ive noticed this on both of the ones with my original kit, and again on both from the RMA kit. Though, one from the RMA kit isnt as bad.

They do advanced RMA, they send you the new one, then you send the old one back.

I cant tell a difference between the old one and the RMA one. I did notice the pump is much quieter when not attached to the motherboard. I tested the new one first laying outside the case, and it was quiet up to 3k RPM, while the old one was attached, and making more noise at 1500RPM. Swapped them, and its the same thing. The one attached makes a bit of a high pitch rattle tone that is noticeable with the side panel off, while with the one not attached you can only hear it with it to your ear.

Additional Comment:

After 3+ hours of hell breaking my back, shaking my PC like a mad man, its still got air in it. Took over 2 hours to get the pump to start pushing the water even though the tubes before and after it were full, and the whole kit had about 18oz of fluid in it. Finally I got it somewhat working, but its terribly loud trying to get the air out of it.

Ive done dozens of custom loops before, and never had any trouble like this. Not something Id ever want to do again.

Additional Comment:

Im off to bed, but quick update. The expansion (adding MCW-80 on GTX-670, and XSPC EX240) CPU load temps are around 5C cooler (didnt monitor ambient and have panels off the case) and the 670 at 1200 core got to 37C running Heaven maxed out 2560x1440.

Cecil, that is valuable follow-up review information. Wonder if that brand new pump is "ready for prime time" or still beta. What do you think?

Hope your back recovers soon. I feel your pain, bro.

On a positive note, looks like the extra rad did what you wanted, eh? Looking forward to your load temps with the case back together. Thanks for the extra effort.

After looking at WD's latest creation

I wonder, has anyone used a self bleed valve? - the type of thing used in low presure central heating systems?

This sort of thing (as WD's rig has copper piping it brought it to mind)

Im wondering if the MCW-80 caused it to be hard to bleed. Since its such a restrictive block, and its right after the pump/block. I can feel the out tube from the pump vibrate, but feel nothing from the out tube of the MCW-80.

CPU maxes 2C cooler then before. Adding another rad is really just for cooling more things, and taking longer to reach the max temp.

Increasing pump speed to 2500RPM didnt help the temps any.

80 was at 4.7. 64 is 4.5.

Ivy sky rockets in temps after 1.3v.

Having a bum 670 really sucks. Temps havent passed 37C, but it still wont run 1250Mhz. Power usage is only up to 85% as well. Really needs some voltage.
