I just got this fx 8120 and my computer makes that squeal sound when I open badaboom converter or when I'm on youtube or pages with animates gif pictures also previusly when i had the athlon ii x4 linx could do 35 gflops and this one only 25gflops haven't had any bsods or stability issues my psu has 3 lights standby another one and temperature all 3 are on all the time specs: MOBO: asus m5a99x evo, flashed to latest bios psu: thermaltake toughpower xt 750w video card: geforce 550ti evga another tip, it never does it outside windows or when installing thanks all for any help, this drives me nuts. update: if I set volts to 1.325, manual mode not offset and enable hpc computer starts and immediately shuts down, after some attemps it goes on again and if i set defaults it goes on fine. update 2: disabled turbo core, went all manual and set multi to 15.5, thats 3,100 ghz problem gone now still getting slow linx pack results compared with the athlon ii x4 at 3,100 ghz can i go 4ghz with voltage in auto? i dont know the cpu voltage it changes all the time thanks again Last edited by scandal1981 : 06-22-2012 at 06:26 PM. Souds like you are getting "coil squeel" it is caused by the coils on the mobo vibrating fast and making the squeeling noise, and im afraid theres not a lot you can do about it apart from live with it, i get it on my old AM2 giga board when under load, it is annoying but not dangerous, buying a new board is the only remedy if it bothers you that much.

thanks man kinda fixed it anyway by ocing the cpu to 4ghz manual voltage in offset with 0.05v and 20x200 multi
all good but still not much faster than that athlon ii x4 645, maybe i can oc more have a 550ti and 65 amps on a 750w psu no amd cooler i put my antec kuhler box it tops load at 49c, maybe i should try another game not gta iv |

Tip: BD is slow....that's why it flopped.
