Any one know what coolers / if this one will work with Ryzen?

Hello all. I very recently upgraded the cooling on my FX-8350 unaware at the time Ryzen was about to be released. Within the next month I plan on buying the Ryzen 7 1700. Does any one know if some of the coolers that worked on AM3 will work on AM4 CPUS?

This is the one I recently bought and was wondering if it will work with Ryzen or will I need to buy a new aftermarket cooler for overclocking? Thanks all!

You have to get an adapter. The socket is not the same. A few manufacturers are offering them for free even. Your cooler manufacturer does have them but I can't remember if it was free or not.

In most cases you'll need to get an upgrade kit that will work as an adapter, but some motherboards, for example the Asus Crosshair VI have incorporated the AM3+ mounting on the board (this is not typical), so depending on motherboard it may not be necessary to get an upgrade kit. Noctua (and some other companies) are offering free upgrade kits if you submit a proof of purchase of an AM4 processor or motherboard, expect 3-4 weeks for shipping, or you can buy the upgrade kit for about 10 dollars.

I own the NH-U12P myself and requested the updated kit from Noctua. Took about 2 weeks to receive it and was about as easy as it gets to install.
