OCZ Vendetta making noise.

Hello all,

I have had this thing running for a few years now on my C2Q , and suddenly the other day it seems to just be cranked to full intensity - as a result, very noisy. All the time, even when idling.

attached is a picture of what speedfan says, if that helps. I personally think its probably just the fan going, but I want other opinions.

If it is the fan, anyone know where I can get a CPU fan? (so I can put it on the cooler - dont want a whole new cooler) It has a different type of plug, so I assume a case fan wont cut it.

Cheers, thanks

Well that speed fan screen shot is pretty much useless for seeing anything related to your fan, unless you knew exactly which was which, the only thing i notice is that one of those probes is reading a very hot temp.

Try downloading core temp and make sure your temps are not out of control. Is the fan completely off??

As long as you have ruled out that its the CPU fan and not anything else. Make sure to unplug it at idle and see if the noise goes away, the last thing you want to do is replace the wrong fan.

If you need a 92mm fan i would recommend this AF0035 by thermaltake. They come with a fan controller so you can change the fan speed to suit your noise needs.

If your going to get a nice fancy fan like the noctua, you might as well go ahead and get the Hyper 212+ which comes with a decent 120mm fan and gives you the option to choose much more readily available fans in that 120 size.
